Workers are kind of right about this mismanagement. Once the owners got into agreements to pay pension deals and four-star medical insurance...they were on a path where products had to escalate. And the truth is...you are only willing to pay a certain amount for Twinkies or such. As for those unemployment bakers? Well...good luck. You might have to move, and accept a forty-percent pay cut.

How about the cupcakes? They were my weakness.I think I read that the same union that killed Hostess in the first place was causing trouble for the company that bout the rights to the recipes.I wonder if they’ll succeed.

Set up the picketlines we can’t allow them to make a comeback after displacing thousands of hard working members of the Bakers union. Look at all the teamsters who lost their jobs too.

all of them will be shopping at their local wal-mart buying the new twinkes too with their SNAP cards.

Sales will be through the roof, stocks will soar, people get twinkies ... and the union idiots that caused it all are STILL unemployed.

I’m lovin it.

WAtch for the PR smears from unions/Democrats to follow.

The company says the cakes will taste the same but that the boxes will now bare the tag line "The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever."

The correct word to use in this case is "bear", not "bare". Candice Choi and her editor may be the biggest morons in the history of ever.

I take that back. The unions who killed Hostess win that prize. Talk about Sweet.

How the heck is this possible? The Marxists assured us with GM/Chrysler that jobs and business would be lost forever (and ever) after bankruptcy.

Sounds like the Teamsters will be the biggest losers. Sure, some of the bakers came back as non-union and probably took a healthy pay cut. But the whole delivery mechanism was jettisoned, buried next to Jimmy Hoffa.

"Apollo Global Management, founded by Leon Black, is known for buying troubled brands then selling them for a profit; its investments include fast-food chains Carl's Jr. and Hardee's. Metropoulos & Co., which has revamped then sold off brands including Chef Boyardee and Bumble Bee, also owns Pabst Brewing Co."

I didn't want them to mess with the chocolate cupcakes. Those were my favorites ever since I was a little girl. Next I loved the Snoballs.

Well anyway, the Tribune did a pretty decent job of it. Apollo is on the stock exchange, Metroupolos is a private investor. The stock could be doing better if more people knew this was one of their enterprises. Any articles you will find about Apollo (and they have associated companies with different ticker symbols so don't get them mistaken) mentions nothing about any of this, just generalized information about their global investments.

People in Kansas are happy to get their old jobs back I read in a KS local paper yesterday, think it is Emporia. There is nothing to stop them from re-unionizing down the line.

I saw some new products that looked like Hostess and wondered if some old employees stole the recipe. They look different and taste terrible. I thought Little Debbie not too bad in a pinch. I love the raspberry coconut bars. Shouldn't eat too much of the stuff.

And Beefsteak which I loved, the black Russian rye, went to Flowers so I doubt I'll see it on the shelves here. Pepperidge Farm is good if they're aren't out. It makes yummy grilled cheese sandwiches.

Hostess and I go back to my childhood with a plant here and outlet stores. We had the bread in the polka dot package. It's moist and spongy. My father finally said it wasn't fit to eat. That was before I knew what really good white bread should taste like. But the smells that wafted off that plant on baking day were heavenly. The plant is still here; I don't know what they will do with it.

So that's why I take such an interest in this particular enterprise and wish them well.

Sure, the company says the taste will be the same. Different plants, different machinery, different employees, and probably some substitute ingredients to cut costs. No way they’ll taste the same...and I don’t eat the damn things.

What about the hostess breads? Wonder bread and home pride? All the other bradns of bread on the supermarket shelves are just downright horrible.

From previous postings we learned that the baker’s union was reasonable and had approved concessions in previous contracts but the delivery drivers, who were raking in 6 figures, were the idiots. So in the last and final round the bakers said they would not make concessions since the drivers sucked up anything they gave and decided to take their chances on the new company.

So it looks to be working out for at least some of the bakery personnel and none of the Thugster drivers.

Don’t forget though that Obammy took care of his Teamsters buddies with trade act displacement assistance funds.
