Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is defending his participation in the Gang of Eights immigration bill efforts, saying he knows it wont win him any parades among conservatives, but its necessary.
Speaking Wednesday night with Fox Newss Sean Hannity, Rubio said he understands why conservatives are skeptical of immigration reform.
Look, its obvious I didnt do this for political gain. This is not something thats going to gain me any parades. People are frustrated, and I do understand it. What I hope they understand is that I studied this issue carefully for almost two years and I concluded that what we have in place right now is a disaster, Rubio said.
Saying that border security will be key to an immigration reform package, Rubio said an amendment he hopes will be introduced Thursday will ensure that those issues will be dealt with before any permanent legal residency measures.

Rubio has been getting flak from both conservatives and liberals for his participation in the Gang of Eight talks, and has not appeared publicly with his colleagues in the group since April.
Rubio said that given failures by the government in the past, he sees why conservatives arent happy with immigration reform efforts.
I think conservatives have a right to be skeptical about this. The federal government under both Republicans and Democrats in the past has failed to enforce our immigration laws. Thats why we have 11 million people here that are illegally here, Rubio said.
Still, Rubio said, keeping the status quo would be worse, describing it as de facto amnesty.
If we dont deal with this problem, and particularly with the border security but also identifying these people that are living in our country and start getting them to pay taxes and consequences for having violated our laws, were going to leave in place a disaster, a de facto amnesty disaster, Rubio said.
>THE SOLUTION ASSERT OUR SOVEREIGNTY AND TALK RECIPROCITY .
By not insisting on reciprocity particularly on those who have entered this country illegally were offering no incentive for assimilation and were not easing the burden for our fellow citizens who for what ever reason decided to live in Mexico.<
Here, here! Until Mexico changes its laws to mirror ours, we should not give preferential treatment, even if disguised with a few years of wait time (13 years is NOTHING in historical terms) to millions of its citizens.
I am hoping the voters send him out on a rail

You send them home until unemployment drops to 4%. You stop unemployment payments after 6 months and it’s all fixed.
Not just any ordinary conservative, mind you. Hannity is a "Reagan Conservative". Just ask him.
Someone once told me that personality is a device the ego uses to get what it wants.
So, we define our selves, just as we also choose to define our definitions, as we like them and (usually) our pretense to be. Sales is a part of almost everything, it seems.
My perception is, Sean is an average sort of guy who works hard to pull off/carry what he's been given to wear, but I generally think he's sincere.
I also have no doubts he's saying what "they" want said, just as he cuts off or talks over or interrupts what "they" don't like to hear.
One doesn't need to be the sharpest tool in the shed to be a well used and favorite tool. Such is Sean in the FNC tool shed.
Hannity is a Party boy first and conservative second or third. O’rielly is just a liberal windbag who needs his ass kicked up one side and down the other.
Rush needs to call out the Rube for the scoundrel politician he is. This is hurting Rush’s credibility.
Agreed. Some of the things Hannity does, such as his support for veterans and our fallen and wounded warriors, are truly magnificent and worthy of the highest praise. But as far as political expression goes, for me Hannity is 'Conservatism for Beginners'. But yes, he's sincere.
Marco, Marco, Marco.........you’ve crossed the Rubicon now and true consevatives no longer dig your chili!
You have bought into Republican E “theories” that the Hispanic vote was determinative last year when it really wasn’t. Can you not perform that simple math? Your just afraid! You watched the Republican E devour Sarah Palin and do everything they could against her presidential campaign including not supporting her monetarily. The result is the E’s have threatened you with a Palin repeat if you don’t get in line with the E’s wishes on immigration. Bottom line, your just another spineless politician masquerading as a conservative to pick up some votes. Like Bobby Jindal said........”your stuck on stupid”. Actually, he said ALL pubbies are and I agree!
Michelle Malkin should have her own show on Fox and they could get rid of Blowhard BOR and Repeat Hannity.
I almost choked the other day when Rush said he wished that Rubio would just get out of this immigration debate “before it damages him”, I howled, shouted at the radio “Rush it’s too late.”
Michelle Malkin didnt buy any of Rubios double speak. Malkin should replace BOR and Hannity on Fox.
Yes!!!!
