Food for thought in light of NSA data mining

Over the last two weeks we have seen revelations regarding the NSA datamining and allegations that DHS has compiled a list of people it deems dangerous to the government.

Anyone want to bet against the NSA capturing and segregating in a separate database all NCIC instant check phone calls as part of the creation of the enemies list or simply for collation with the list if the government decides these dangerous people need a visit?

Think about the information in that phone call...

name, SSN, type of firearm

...all information handed to the government for safekeeping. The FBI and ATF don't even need to violate the law since it's the NSA that is doing so.

Am I missing something here?

Sure do wish the Senate and Congress would ask some very specific questions to the ATF, NSA, FBI and DHS regarding this issue.

If anyone doesn’t believe this data isn’t available to Obama for political/idealogical use, I got this bridge.....

They won't; for it is they who authorized the commission of these agencies and the "laws" they operate under — that they are executive agencies gives them the convenient excuse to say "we're not accountable in this", which is what they do for everything that is unpopular or destructive: the money-supply & Federal Reserve, for instance.

BINGO. They were the ones who subverted their Oaths and Constitution; but the first to throw up their hands “*I* didn’t do anything”....

(As Rush mentioned yesterday) I’d like to know that if Obama’s police state is so darn wonderful, why haven’t they been able to find all the illegal invaders ‘hiding in the shadows’?

What is it bout them that they got the ability to flummox these data mining efforts and totally avoid detection?

Don’t they use the phone or the web?

What are the doing that so special they can avoid Obama’s dragnet?

I think the FEMA camps is what the database is for. This is
all about controlling civil unrest. They know where all the
guns are, at least they think so. They can track almost
every citizen down. They know where you live, work, play
and eat. They know all of your physical features, age, race
etc.. They know what you own, rent, buy, travel, they even
have facial recognition to pick you out in their domestic
surveillance systems. They know your party affiliation,
what your saying, what your reading, what your doing about
it. They have been building this database for 30+ years and
the only thing holding them back was storage space and
filing systems. Now, with that hurdle out of the way all
they have to do is put it all together. That’s what they
are in the proses of now. As far as guns go, they are going
to starve us out for them. They will make all necessities
of life hard to get or unavailable to us.
You want a drivers license, permit or tags for your car.
Give up your guns. You want to see a doctor, have firemen
put your burning house out or police show up when you call
them, give up your guns. As long as this database exist,
we are a commodity to be managed, not free people.

From another thread today;

At the Nuremberg War Trials, . . . . indited under . . . Count Four (”Crimes Against Humanity - murder, extermination, enslavement of civilian populations; persecution on the basis of racial, religions or political grounds

Misusing the omniprecence of the computer age to persecute people based on their religion or politics is a crime against humanity by 1940's standards.

For me, the main issue is “what increased risk for abuse is there by gathering all the data?”. The answer is a huge increase.

When you don’t have the data and are reliant on attaining it through a 3rd you’ll *need* a warrant. Otherwise they’ll probably to you to get lost. By having a single sign-off to capture all the data from everybody first, you already have the data and don’t need to go back to the 3rd party.

So you don’t need another warrant. The judge wouldn’t even know. There is no new oversight. Anybody with access to the data can run whatever database queries they please. They’ve already told us they run “algorithms for pattern recognition”. Are these algorithms locked down? Who can change them? What authorization is needed? Do the systems only allow “authorized algorithms” to be run?

Has there been a drop in warrant requests? If so, I’d guess abuse is already taking place. They’ve done a complete end-around the process and legal framework. Don’t tell me they’ll go back to a judge to get a warrant for data they already have, how naive. How would a judge know of abuse? The judge is the part of the oversight process but it is only effective when the NSA needs to get data it doesn’t already have. What are the new oversight processes for this current approach?

If you didn’t know that every time you fill out a gun purchase form it was stored, then you haven’t been paying attention.

Ask a cop. They know full well.

lol...I am a former officer and former prosecutor...I knew that if the government was following the law that they had to hand-search the 4473’s at the gun dealer’s business up until all of this came to light

now there is no doubt in my mind that the Feds have been breaking the law from the day they were able to intercept these instant check phone calls

I guess it’s just as well that all my firearms were lost in a boating accident on the Ohio river as I was practicing my E&E
