We the people are now slaves to the government of the USA.

Congress and the white house democrats and republicans alike care about only one thing...their power over the American people. What this 29 yo has done is expose the lengths that the government will go to make sure “we the people” follow along like good little sheep by monitoring those who may dissent.

Do a direct comparison of what was exposed, why, constitutional vs. political issues and if anyone got killed over it.

Then you tell me.

We applauded such action under Bush.

Surely you know that the original Patriot Act does not allow the surveillance of all-domestic phone calls. The bill's author, James Sensenbrenner, is very specific about this. The Obama administration has done this on its own with no basis in law, knowing that the fluffer media will protect it.

They are true evil . So are you officially willing to go on record at FR stating that Ben Franklin was wrong about security vs. liberty and who deserves what?

Simple yes or no question here.

I don’t give two pins about this violation of the contract between us and our government being exposed to the world. The blatant LIE that this is for our own good, or to defend against another 9/11 sort of falls apart when you see that they are looking at only DOMESTIC phone records and excluding international calls.

For crying out loud the Feds couldn't even intercept the terrorist Boston bomber upon his return after the Rookie's TOLD us about his travel. But they have time and energy to watch 315 million Americans.

Just the conservative/christian ‘terrorists’. Which by the looks of this thread is a lot less people than we may have thought.

Did you forget? The Muslim Brotherhood holds exalted status in DC now. The terrorists already know the tools used and they make allowances for that.

A hammer with no head is useless. An drill with no bit is useless.

The only reason they are building the giant snoop facility is to house info on citizens that they can use to bully and browbeat them into submission anytime they want.

They should have been honest from the start and we could have discussed as a nation whether we go this far.

We as conservatives have seen how this administration will use info to destroy opponents and law abiding citizens.

Shame they only coddle and protect the people that they say they are keeping us safe from.

Whatta bunch of pure baloney and slime. Maybe they could keep an eye on the borders and quit importing the enemy. That might do something to keep us safe.

Wrong(ish).

Petraeus went against this administration concerning Benghazi. They used his private emails and phone calls (and hers) to bring him down, and to now keep him quiet.

There are other real (Elliot Spitzer, General Allen) and possible examples, such as the reason Chief Justice John Roberts voted in favor of Obamacare.

Anyone who has any expectation of their phone calls, their Internet postings, their medical records, their legal matters, their email or their snail mail remaining private is very foolish and has been for years!

>So listening in on conversations within our borders is criminal? We tolerated it under Bush and the Patriot Act but not under Bummer. Hypocrisy! I certainly want to know if you are plotting an act of terror. We applauded such action under Bush. <

As much as I dislike Lyndon Johnson, he did leave us with one bit of wisdom, which I hope you will take to heart:

“You do not examine legislation in light of the benefits it will convey if properly administered, but in light of the wrongs it would do and the harms it would cause if improperly administered.”

Call me a cynic, but I dare say that under the current administration, with its use of the IRS to go after any group with “Patriot”, or “Tea Party” in its name, it’s not unreasonable to be concerned about a government which can and does log all conversation and correspondence of each and every one of us.

Boehner’s a traitor for doing nothing about a clear usurpation and infringement of our 4th Amendment rights. Feinstein’s a traitor and guilty of treason every time she opens her mouth about gun control and a clear violation of the 2nd Amendment.

Apparently if we say it’s “necessary” it no longer matters that it’s unconstitutional...

I’m sickened.
