Rand Paul: I'm Open to Voting for Immigration Bill
NewsMax ^ | 9 Jun 13 | Thomson/Reuters

Senator Rand Paul, a conservative Republican whose vote is being courted by supporters of a broad U.S. immigration bill, said on Sunday he is open to voting for the measure but wants changes, including tougher border security requirements. Paul, who has hinted at an interest in running for president in 2016, in March backed the concept of a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants that is at the heart of a comprehensive immigration bill under consideration in the U.S. Senate.

But Paul, of Kentucky, has also criticized some elements of the bill, saying it should provide a mechanism for assuring that the U.S. border with Mexico is secure. Paul also wants to see an expansion of visa programs that allow companies to hire workers from abroad.

Rand has stated previously that his “path to citizenship” includes going back to your home Country and applying for citizenship.

Except the current bill doesn't do that...

Hhmmm,... Could be why he says changes need to be made?

Ya’ think?

Sorry, I'm suspicious of any politician who is trying to have it both ways on this issue:

a. Supporting "a (universal) path to citizenship", while also...

b. Calling for "effective border security".

c. While knowing full well that the latter isn't going to happen under the current administration. And that every last applicant for a resident card or work permit is going to get the benefit of the doubt and receive every administrative waiver available.

Any "comprehensive immigration reform" passed under this administration is going to be perverted and abused -- and the American people will be the losers for it.

So...why...even...try?

I don’t think there’s anywhere to go to escape what is coming. One world government will be everywhere.

SSDD. Another GOP turncoat makes pretty sounding noises, then goes along with another Democrat ‘conditional disaster’ and supposed conservatives start making excuses for their lyin’ eyes. No damn wonder we are screwed.

Come up with an effective strategy to keep them from passing anything until we’re back in control then...

If your hypothesis applies here, it applies everywhere...

Rand wants a good, clean bill. If they can make changes to the current one, then fine. If not, then not.

Then he should know how his statements are going to be taken out of context and used toward ends he supposedly finds abhorrent and construct them accordingly. In which case, this example shows how he failed either to take that risk under consideration or to prepare his comments such that they could not be misconstrued.

Some people will misconstrue anything to achieve an end. This Administration has shown they’ll make it up on the fly if it doesn’t already exist.

Why do their work for them?

If Rand signs off on a Shamnesty, then he’ll deserve the criticism. Until then, using their words to bash one of our own prematurely strikes me as self defeating.

NSA threatened to expose his hairpiece.

In all seriousness, let me put forth a theory.

NSA blackmails John Roberts to endorse Obamacare. Not because they’re leftwing busy-bodies wanting to force everyone to buy healthcare, but because it puts everyone’s medical records in government hands and easily accessible to them.

NSA blackmails conservative Republicans on immigration. Not because they care about illegals, but because of the biometric national ID part of the bill.

We’ve seen it time and time again - apparently principled politicians change radically, almost overnight, once they get to Washington.

Our leaders, I believe, are all being held hostage to blackmail.

Good for you. I guess they won’t have to listen to your phone line to know where you stand now. You’re on the list because you contacted them. LOL

The guy has a FREE RIDE right into the White House if he could just figure out where 70% of the country stands on this issue.

...and I’m not even a fan of his.

Precisely my point. He did, witless or otherwise.

In an Amos and Andy episode, Andy fainted after receiving an angry call from an old girlfriend. After Andy described what a stressful experience that was, Kingfish commented, "Yeah, the telephone is a dangerous instrument, all right!"
