The Cub Scouts came to my door collecting for a bottle drive last weekend, and for the first time ever, I told them I had no bottles or cans. I did feel bad because we have always supported Scouting, my son was in Scouts, my husband was a Weblo leader, and we’ve always bought what ever they were selling: popcorn, Christmas greens, etc. They are no longer “morally upright”. I can not support them any longer, especially when they had actually won a Supreme Court decision on the gay issue two or three years ago.
Scouting (if it continues to exist) will now have to have some training of the Scouts on how to behave and accommodate homosexual Scouts. This alone sexualizes a youth program that does not need it.
Our Troop will not re-charter in the fall. The commitment to the male youth is still there. I just will not be through Scouting.

Do you know, Scoutmasters, what you have done?
This is a mistake in the article. The Scoutmaster did not vote, it was a group of roughly 1200 appointed delegates that were present, there were roughly 200 no show delegates. The vote was basically 60/40 in favor of accepting homosexuals.
In fact Scoutmaster were overwhelmingly against the change, with over 2/3 wanting to retain the policy. Remember, back in July 2012 BSA completed a 2 year study by a committee of 200 that the current policy was the best for Scouting. The BSA statement;
“After careful consideration of a resolution asking the Boy Scouts of America to reconsider its longstanding membership standards policy, today the organization affirmed its current policy, stating that it remains in the best interest of Scouting and that there will be no further action taken on the resolution,”
Immediately after that two members of the Boy Scouts’ executive board, James S. Turley, chairman and chief executive of Ernst & Young, and Randall L. Stephenson, chairman and chief executive of AT&T, have recently said they would push to end the exclusion policy......
Our belief is that change at any organization must come from within to be successful and sustainable.”
ALL Scoutmaster will now be forced to accept open and avowed homosexuals and can not dismiss them from Scouting due to homosexuality. Everyone keeps saying that homosexual leaders are not allowed in Scouting, that is true only for adults, they do not understand the Scouting method. Scouts is YOUTH led. That means you can have a 17 year old Senior patrol leader who is homosexual, leading the troop. A 11 year old Webelo who enters the troop looks up to that 17 year old and emulates/admires him. Do parents really want thay 17 year old as a model for their 11 year old.
Adult Homosexuals will be in Scouting very soon. By this decision the BSA has lost all legal standing from the Supreme Court ( Dale case) for protection. Soon after that there will be no membership standards, just like Scouting Canada and Brittian.
BSA committed suicide, Sadly it should die.
Scouting has left my family, we did not leave Scouting. As my son said “ the only way to uphold the Scout Oath and Scout Law is to no longer be a Scout”

This change was not about homosexual scouts, it is merely a step to homosexual adult leaders. The BSA has no legal recourse to keeping them out.
Which the Boy Scout web page describes as, “...remain faithful in your religious beliefs. The values you practice as a Scout will help you shape a life of virtue and self-reliance.” How are they going to honor one boy’s religious belief while accommodating another boy’s activism?
Afraid so. The term "Boy Scouts" will forever be tainted (i.e., like the simple word gay). Best start a new organization, with a new name, and strengthened values. Let this shameful act by the directors of BSA, serve as an example to all who would abandon their virtue, and their honor, to appease those who have neither.

and I assume they went to those events with leaders of your choosing whose job it was to make sure no one followed them into the shower tent
even if some troops “find” each other and go all gay pride, march in the leather parades and all, they wont reflect any worse on the US than our own obama-military, will they?

you were enjoying the company of homosexuals who weren’t open about it, apparently you emerged unscathed. I now recognize that some of the GS leaders I admired years ago probably were lesbians but sex was never a part of Scout life and yes, learning outdoor survival was excellent prep for the military!
I would guess there will be more gays in the military than the BSA, and certainly in the schools, public and private, ministry all denominations, and in pop entertainment that saturates our culture
It's a shame that some Troops will choose to continue on; the ideal response would be for *all* of them to allow their charters to lapse. Leave the national organization hollow and bereft of purpose.

I was in Girl Scouts....Boring....I knew all those things from my family and friends.
Schools overflow with clubs and sports. Churches, too.

1977? hey were homosexuals “allowed” to be Scouts back then?
The problem is there were already gay scouts in the organization. My BIL was gay and became an Eagle Scout. I am not saying that I agree with the decision at all, just saying that they are there, regardless.
My BIL left scouting because he found himself attracted to another young man in the organization and knew he could not continue. It pains me to think that the leadership of the org would not see the can of worms they are opening as a result of this decision. They have made it easier for people to stay and for lines to be crossed.
-—for a 71 yr old man, you have learned little!!! I was in Scouting in the 50’s-—Life Scout, summer camps, Order of the Arrow, numerous community projects, built a scout cabin in the woods, LOTS of great memories. Thanks goes to committed leaders, parents, and a supportive church.
For 35 years I have been involved in “Friends of Scouting”-—the group that collects funds at the grass roots. The announcement to support deviance was not made until after the 2013 campaign to collect funds, which ended in late April. Over the those years, I have collected hundreds of thousand of dollars. I QUIT and most of my contacts have expressed a similar stance! NOW WHAT? Will ATT and some loser group of accountants step to the plate????
