The Guardian ^ | 6/8/2013 | EarlyBird

So who really requested the warrant-less wiretaps on all Verizon customers? It wasn't the NSA.

Take another look at the warrant (at link) and see if you can figure it out.

That would be Eric Holder, would it not? I'm sorry to be so obvious - it's late and I'm not at my best.

Thanks very much for the hint - I will use this link on the benighted Baltimore Sun forum on which I occasionally post to punish the iniquitous!

Well there used to be a program called Eschalon (sp) did the same thing. What they did was to set up an agreement between Canada England Australia US and maybe New Zealand. They would monitor each others citizenry. England US , US canada, Austraila England. etc. that way they could say we arent monitoring our citizens. While still monitoring by a partner state.

Who does the FBI report to? Isn’t it the Department of Justice? Who runs the DOJ?

I’m just getting tired of hearing in every media report that this is the doing of the NSA. If you read the warrant, the NSA is tasked with the collection. In other words, they were ordered to do it by this warrant.

I am thinking the DNC would be a good place to look for this data.

DNC would be a good place to look.

Now we know why Hillary turned in the FBI files. She had something better.

Another former senior official, who asked not to be identified, confirmed Blair’s recollection and said the incident created serious problems for the Justice Department, which represents the NSA before the federal judges on the secret court.

The judges “were really upset about this,” said the former official. As a result, Attorney General Eric Holder pledged to the judges that the intelligence agencies would take steps to correct the problem as a condition of renewing the NSA’s surveillance program.
