In a dramatic breakthrough on immigration reform, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) is offering up an amendment to break the log jam and address his and other GOP senators’ concerns about border security.
Entitled the RESULTS amendment (Requiring Enforcement, Security and safety, & Upgrading Legitimate Trade and travel Simultaneously) the amendment would:
• Requires DHS Secretary and GAO Comptroller General to jointly certify that these triggers are met before Registered Provisional Immigrants (RPI) can adjust to Lawful Permanent Resident (“green card”) status: 1. 100% Situational Awareness – monitoring capability at every segment of Southern border 2. Full Operational Control – defined as at least a 90% apprehension rate along Southern border 3. Biometric Exit System – fully operational and in use at all air and sea ports of entry to which U.S. Customs and Border Protection is currently deployed; retains current law for land ports 4. Nationwide E-Verify System – must be implemented (identical to S.744) • Mandates that DHS deploy newly defined border security metrics to gauge success or failure. • Requires DHS to issue a Southern Border Security Strategy within 120 days to achieve operational control of every sector of the Southern border, and a 50 percent wait-time reduction at land ports of entry.Authorizes supplemental and emergency appropriations to improve border security, including $1 billion per year over 6 years for land port of entry infrastructure improvements and personnel.

I mean, if we can’t enforce the laws now, why would changing them make a darn bit of difference?

The only people who know whether or not the border is under control are the people who live there.
There are a number of legal arguments stating that the 14th Amendment does not apply to most “anchor babies.” So a Supreme Court decision might suffice.
How do you calculate a 90% apprehension rate when you don’t know how many illegals are coming in through tunnels and small boats that nobody sees? Huh?
Start shooting them on sight and the illegal border crossings will stop immediately.

This is just the rescue the ‘Rats needed. By letting this pass in the ‘Rat controlled Senate (where it was on life-support) and die in the GOP controlled House, you have given Obama exactly the setup he was looking for. Now they can hammer the “do nothing” GOP from here to 2014 and put Pelosi back in power.
I would give them all legal status. Only caveat is they have to build the fence.

The usual game. There’s a supposed logjam then some moderate “reasonable” republican comes to the rescue with a compromise that gives people cover.
Remember the phony gay amendment that Leahy and Schumer “struggled” over? It was pulled that the last minute and shazaam, Orrin Hatch votes aye in committee.
We’re not so easily fooled. Rubio probably is though.
Cornyn is up for re-election next year. Let’s find another Cruz to run against him!

The problem is that Obama and his team of misfits cannot be trusted to do the enforcement. And now with Susan Rice in charge of Naional Security Advisor, you've got a proven liar in charge of implementation of anything related to national security.
At this point, the only answer is for every invader to go home. Those that don't self-deport should never be allowed in the US again. JMHO

Cornyn’s bill makes sure E-verify is used by employers so they can't hire illegals. That will send many back across the border.
The millions here are not going to be deported so something has to be done to get control of this situation. Many will leave if they can't get employment due to E-verify.
That is what is missing from the equation of all the well-meaning Republicans. I believe they care about the people AND the law. They're FAILING to see that the executive branch as currently assembled is lawless.
