A new postmortem on the November elections from the nations leading voice for college Republicans offers a searing indictment of the GOP brand and the major challenges the party faces in wooing young voters, according to a copy given exclusively to POLITICO on Sunday.
The College Republican National Committee on Monday made public a detailed report the result of extensive polling and focus groups dissecting what went wrong for Republicans with young voters in the 2012 elections and how the party can improve its showing with that key demographic in the future.
Its not a pretty picture. In fact, its a dismal present situation, the report says.
The 95-page study, which looked at the partys views on social and economic issues, as well as its messaging and outreach, echoes a March report on the election debacle issued by Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, which presented a devastating assessment of the partys current state of affairs.
But in some ways the new report from inside the GOP tent is even more scathing and ominous since it comes from the partys next generation.

Our message is longer than a 10 second sound bite. Too much for the low information voters.
Very well said.
Sadly, there is no leadership in the GOP. As a prime example, look at Issa p****ng away the IRS issue.
Absent real conservative leader(s), the GOP is dead as a doornail. It’s only a matter of time.
Oh, well. So much for that hope...
These dependent, "entitled", government-sucking parasites have been TRAINED to be Progressive-thinking, irresponsible, live-off-of-others and "I want it now" voters, and Conservatives are "old fogies" to them.
So the commies are telling the right what is wrong with us... and we are supposed to believe polutico? We all know nancy “nazi” peloser and harry “the mobster” reid have the right’s best interest at heart.

Here is another adjective that they can use... WELL ARMED!

What this tells me is that the ‘next generation’ of Republicans are Republicans, not conservatives. To a point, this is to be expected from a group of people who have little real-world experience.
Once the leftist-dominated world slaps them around a bit, some of them may see reason. That’s the time to give them some Tea.
As for ‘well-armed’ ... all I can say is ‘Amen’.
There's just as many asinine statements by the left, but the media doesn't pounce on them 24/7 like they do to Republicans.
They should just shut up and go be DemocRats.
You’re ALL winners!
According to the article young people want free education, health care, birth control, open borders, and an end to nasty judgmentalism on all social issues.
In short, to win their votes, they are recommending the party become the Democrats.
Communism appeals to the young in many ways, including the “free stuff without working for it” angle.
But more insidious is the play to the arrogance of youth.
“All the smart people believe this. You’re smart, so you should believe this, too!”
Okay, you and I say "limited government" etc. And what they hear is "no-fault sodomy, hetero-nookie, abortion, and legal drugs." Most of the young Paulites I've met are radical individualists, unlike Tea Party typeswho are morality-based, community-building volunteers, and mostly older.
I think we can convert many of the kids eventually, especially as they grow up, but as a group, they are foremost very ticked-off, socially awkward kids.
Romney lost the election. Between being Mr. MassCare and convincing between 4 and 9 million Republicans to stay home, of course we lost. I have to say we have no chance in 2016 unless something truly dramatic in our favor occurs, although both houses of Congress are winnable. Finally, unless the Repubs get some courage to fight Dem cheating, stealing, and violence, it’s all over. A permanent Progressive government and an education union goon Stasi with unlimited billions of tax dollars will be very tough to uproot. What do we have this week? Issa being called a criminal and instead of fighting back, being a “gentleman.” Gentlemen don’t finish last. Gentlemen get exterminated.
Two words. John McCain.
At least you can’t say the GOP didn’t try. “Obama was born in Africa, tax cuts are creating jobs in China, war everywhere in on the table, Obama is a socialist, he married Gimi the Moocher, he looks like the devil”. And they nominated McCain followed by Romney. The GOP gave it their best shot.
If Barack Obama got reelected because of Murdoch or Akin, then America is too stupid to survive.
I am tired of hearing about these two. I bet less than .5 percent had their vote swayed by those two people. The people outraged would have been easily outraged about something else.
It did cause us to lose two Senate seats, however. Akin should have gotten out the second he screwed up. Murdoch making that mistake was idiotic, especially after Akin, but it was far too late in the process to get out. His statement was magnified much worse because of Akin, and a more skilled candidate would have been able to recover in a heavy GOP state.
But kids from, mostly, agnostic houses who are learning morality from popular media and universities are not going to be open to socon messages. They just are not--so what do we do -- leave them as low fruit to the radical left?
I say, we grab them where we can and as you said, as they age and have life experience, they come to our side-hopefully. At least though, they get the message of limited government and liberty somewhere because if we just leave them to the leftist controlled media, schools, universities, entertainment, popular culture and, now even chruches--they will never get it.
It’s pretty easy to understand.
Today’s 20 somethings are second and third generation products of the Great Society.
They’ve been educated by progressives, informed by progressive MSM, and partake in progressive dominated social media.
Each year 2.5 million (mostly old/white/ majority R voting) people die and are replaced by (young/increasingly minority/heavily D voting) people.
We are definitely swimming upstream.
