This California proposal that will probably become law is going to be very popular in pro-gun control states.
LA Times:
Californians who want to buy ammunition would have to submit personal information and a $50 fee for a background check by the state, under a bill passed by the Senate. The state Department of Justice would determine whether buyers have a criminal record, severe mental illness or a restraining order that would disqualify them from owning guns.
Ammo shops would check the name on buyers' driver's licenses against a state list of qualified purchasers.
The goal of the bill is "to ensure that criminals and other dangerous individuals cannot purchase ammunition in the state of California," said Sen. Kevin De Leon (D-Los Angeles), author of SB 53.
The vote was 22-14, with a few Democrats joining the Republican minority in opposition.
Sen. Jim Nielsen (R-Gerber) said, "We are criminalizing legal, historic behavior in the state of California and putting onerous burdens and regulations and requirements on law-abiding citizens."
The Senate also OK'd a bill that would outlaw the sale, purchase and manufacture in California of semiautomatic rifles that can accommodate detachable magazines. The measure, SB 374 by Steinberg, also would require those who own such weapons to register them with the state....

1974 here, for the same reason.
LOL! Sure it is. 'RAT politicians are the biggest liars on the planet.
Mexico does thank you though. You've just created another black market for them. Fools!
Ha! Good luck finding any!
I want to leave but my wife is not going for it. Same ole excuses. Family here, can’t get job. So I tell her, “well are you going to like it when they turn me into a felon and come and arrest me”? She scoffs at me. Maybe she’s trying to get rid of me. :(
Same rules as for the White House Visitor Logs.
I’d bet money they’ll set-up roadblocks or even gates at the border to inspect vehicles. This is a state that tries to tax people who’ve left.
I can find you that job, can’t do anything about the family, though.
In that case you'd just have to bring it in from Mexico.
Running away from problems doesn't solve a damned thing. Believe me, if this becomes law in CA it's only a matter of time until gun-grabbing totalitarians push the same legislation everywhere. It must be stopped here and it must be stopped now. That will require united effort by Second Amendment supporters all across the country.
Likewise; South Carolina. It is hard for me to imagine having to live with all these unconstitutional laws and regulations.
California is a beautiful, wonderful place. Too bad it’s being rapidly trashed by a bunch of mentally diseased ubber libs who don’t have a clue.
Then I’d just leave a bag of oranges on the seat and let them oooh and awwwww about it....and let them throw them away...
"You want to invoke your 5th Amendment right ma'am, that'll be $100.00." Or, "Certainly sir, you can exercise your free speech right and compose a letter to the editor, just pay this small $200.00 fee and have at it."
Well come on, how else are they going to pay for that $100 million in bonuses they gave to the IRS employees?
I know how it is. We wouldn’t have left. But got a offer we couldn’t refuse. Heck I sure miss my family.
I can see the $50 fee sold as a one-time fee. Later on, it will get changed to an every-five year license, then an every-three-year, and eventually an annual license fee. That’s the way gun-grabbers work - sell something as ‘reasonable’, then morph it over time into what they really want.
Working on leaving this year. Me and the CA Legislature finally convinced the wife.:)
Ammo control is gun control!
I don't think Gov. Brown has signed this latest round of Bills yet. Here's his number: (916) 445-2841
Wisdom includes knowing when to abandon a place. California is gone. Let it go.
