Google ordered to hand private customer data over to FBI investigators

A US judge has ordered Google to comply with FBI secret demands for customer data, despite earlier ruling the warrantless orders unconstitutional.

District court judge Susan Illston this week rejected the internet search giant's argument that so-called National Security Letters (NSLs) violated its constitutional rights. As such it ordered Google to hand over private information relating to US citizens to federal agents.

It comes despite Illston earlier ruling the letters unconstitutional in a separate case in March. In that case, brought by non-profit advocacy group the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the judge said that such demands violated the right to free speech.

She also ruled against gagging clauses attached to the demands that prevent the recipients of NSLs from disclosing the mere existence of an order.

"The court concludes that the nondisclosure provision violates the First Amendment … the government is therefore enjoined from issuing NSLs … or from enforcing the nondisclosure provision in this or any other case," Illston concluded in March.

"OK, so it violates the Constitution? So what? I'm from San Francisco, and we don't see anything about Gay Rights in that old rag, anyway! It needs some updating!"

My bet is the FBI is tracking down anti-Obama posters so they can hand the names over to the IRS for further investigation.

What, Facebook cooperated and sold their data to the IRS to improve their revenue numbers and now Google won’t play ball? Off with their heads!

On the recommendations of Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, Illston was nominated by President Bill Clinton

That about says it all.

Now that the IRS is taking heat for harassing, threatening and intimidating Americans, it looks like the commies are going to turn that job over to a different agency. Isn’t this the same crap that got the IRS in hot water in the first place? Geesh. This regime is made up entirely of MORONS! Come on America! Wake up!

This idiot judge just threw away the constitution. Despite her finding that it’s a violation of the constitution she ordered it anyway.

Bad decision all around. The feds are issuing an unofficial ultimatum to all companies and corporations: give us all of the information you have available on all Americans, or we WILL destroy you by crushing you under audits and regulations.

Frankly it bothers me enough that Google keeps a record of where I browse. Now the FBI thinks they have a right to my private communications?

Lets say I went to the local shopping mall. I walk around entering stores and looking at their goods, asking questions, and making informed decisions. Does the FBI think they should be able to know exactly what I did during that time? It’s a private matter, nobody’s business but my own.

It’s the same thing with Google. The FBI should be told to no way, you’re getting nothing!

I'm a very firm believer that under US law people who aren't citizens of the US...even ones with Green Cards or who are married to citizens...should be denied a number of rights that we citizens have.Yes,a two-tiered justice system. If this article is connected in any way with non-citizens I'm not sure I'd have a problem with it.Otherwise I have a big problem with it.
