Despite official statements to the contrary, Russia will not transfer a shipment of advanced anti-aircraft missiles to Syria, an unnamed senior Russian official has told Londons Sunday Times.
According to Sundays report, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu managed to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin of the risk such a deal posed to regional stability and Israeli civilians, during a meeting in the Black Sea resort of Sochi earlier this month, leading to the cancelation of the planned sale of six S-300 batteries to Bashar Assads regime.
In their meeting, Netanyahu reportedly warned Putin that Moscows sale of the sophisticated missile defense system to Assad could push the Middle East into war, and argued that the S-300 had no relevance to Assads civil-war battles against rebel groups.

They seem to have concluded their boy in Damascus isn’t going to survive.
“They seem to have concluded their boy in Damascus isnt going to survive.”
This is all about money. Israel made them a better offer.
I agree it’s all about money. But Russia was always going to have to sell those missiles on credit, and if they don’t think Assad is going to be around to pay off the debt Russia isn’t going to ship the missiles. They are still trying to collect on some of the old Soviet weapons sales. I guarantee you if Syria had the up front cash they would already have those missiles.
+ There were missiles shot at a Russian passenger plane a couple of weeks ago.
The S300 is a cash cow for the Russians. However they know that once Israel defeats the system, Russia won’t be able to give them away.
The Israelis are still hoping Obama and NATO will enforce a no fly zone over Syria. They really need to look at what happened in Libya. NATO shot up just as many allies as they did enemies.
Hope this remains true. Excellent news...
