The reasons you have supported the Boy Scouts of America for more than 103 years have not changed. We will continue to be a leader in youth development and our Scouts will continue to be committed to their communities. With more than 2.6 million youth members, last year Scouts collected over seven million pounds of food for the hungry and contributed more than 13 million hours of service to their communities, and more than 57,000 Scouts earned the rank of Eagle our largest class ever.
After embarking on months of comprehensive discussion and receiving an outpouring of support and feedback, the Board of Directors and key members of local council leadership voted on the following resolution:
Youth membership in the Boy Scouts of America is open to all youth who meet the specific membership requirements to join the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, Sea Scout, and Venturing programs. Membership in any program of the Boy Scouts of America requires the youth member to (a) subscribe to and abide by the values expressed in the Scout Oath and Scout Law, (b) subscribe to and abide by the precepts of the Declaration of Religious Principle (duty to God), and (c) demonstrate behavior that exemplifies the highest level of good conduct and respect for others and is consistent at all times with the values expressed in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. No youth may be denied membership in the Boy Scouts of America on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone. (emphasis added by SoFloFreeper)
The result of their vote determined that the Boy Scouts of America would adopt this resolution effective January 1, 2014. While we understand you may not agree with this decision we appreciate your continued support and dedication to Scouting and our young people.

The Boy Scouts leadership are beyond stupid. This “half-way” option which allows “homosexual” youth, but not homosexual leaders, will be the end of them all the faster.
The PC corporations will continue to withhold money, and churches will decline to host them.
Well we ripped ours up .
“... Boy Scouts has ceased to serve any useful function once it has someone on its staff with the title of “Director, Development and Corporate Alliances.”
Excellent point!

These are the numbers for Canada from 1995. So for the last 20 years you can see how things changed.
It used to be that there were 80k Beavers, 80k Cubs and 35k Scouts.
Now there are 20k beavers, 24k Cubs and only 15k Scouts.
So membership and participation has gone from 200k in 1995 to around 60k now. That’s down to 30 percent. They’ve lost 2/3rds of their core membership in just 15 years.
Leaders were once at 65k, and are now at 27k, just 40 percent of numbers. Kids/leader used to be around 1/3, now it’s 1/2. So for every boy enrolled, they have a half a leader.
I have an alternative. I suggest “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.”
There will most certainly be an organization that will compete with the Boys Scouts. There already are.
The Baden-Powel Scout association is one, but it is coed, which I am not in favor of. M Boys and Men these days have more than enough influence from girls and women. Far too much. http://bpsa-us.org/
Also the On My Honor Society will be meeting in Kentucky to form a new Scouting organization later this year.

“We scoutmasters may be a tougher breed than you give us credit for. I am sure there are some that will give in, but there are those of us that know the fight isnt over. Do not expect me to bend over and take it.
Good for you! How would it play out if a local Council refused to abide by the directive?”
I am not sure how it would work at a council level. I know in my council there was a very strong “NO” vote. I do know that at the unit level, the unit is owned by the chartering organization. The only thing the BSA can do is pull the charter. But the charter organization is in charge.
Of course, a well places and timed news story about young homosexual boys finding God could change the whole issue.
I wonder if their corporate level executives are still pulling in the same salary? That is absolutely what this was all about with BSA. Bet it was the same in Canada.
Sound familiar? Our leaders in congress sell us out for pieces of silver every day.
Regardless, excellent information and I believe the numbers will be far worse here.
Their communications read like the organization has been taken over by the Romney campaign. Which makes sense, since they were out of work.
“the rest of the Scouts can take their perversion and peddle it somewhere else.”
Jeez, this queer thing is an indication of “some” BSA leaders. Anyone who claims the Scouts are not still 99% the best moral, most patriotic and one of the best things a boy can belong to, sure makes em look like long time Scout hater to begin with.
Get involved on a leadership level! Take Scouting away from these PC wimps and return Scouting to its rightful high place in America.
Message to the BSA leadership council.
You sold your soul to your corporate masters, so let them pay your way now. That’s what they must have promised you to do such a stupid thing.
You have failed all the Scouts who came before you, and shamed their honor.

We also know that they are fudging their numbers by adding ‘non-core’ members onto their rolls.
There are traditionalists - the Baden Powell Service Association.
They’ve been around since the 70’s when the Boy Scouts first started admitting women and permitting women as leaders.
You can find their guidelines here.
http://bpsa-us.org/about/policies-guidelines/
There’s no need to start a brand new organization - there’s already an organization right there that actually follows Robert Baden Powell’s regulations.
Like I said - we fought this battle ourselves. It was 1998 when we were forced to admit girls up in Canada. So I am not surprised, but I am very disheartened to see the same disaster take place in the United States.
It’s simple enough - just transfer the whole organization to the traditionalist alternative. The problem is that you’ll have to figure out recruitment. It is difficult to recruit without the connection and advertisement associated with the Boy Scouts as a brand. The Boy scouts, despite their difficulties still are about 5x their size as they were in the pre-war era. It used to be very rare to find an actual boy scout and they WERE not very common.
Look at the U.S. Military. There has been an epic rise in sexual abuse just since the lifting of the ban on open homosexuals. It will get worse. Very few straights will want to join the military when they will no longer be able to get counseling from Chaplains of real Christian denominations. Who wants to give their life for a country of moral degenerates?
When my children ask me about joining the Scouts or the Military, I will tell them to let the gays take care of it. It is their country now. Let's see how long they can keep it!
Homosexuality is not normal, it is not genetic, it is simply a mental disorder that for some reason we decided to allow to go unregulated. Like all unregulated illness it has metastasized and become a deathly cancer on the morals of the country.
It has been only 10 years since Lawrence VS Texas and the snow ball of Homosexual cranks has become an avalanche destroying everything of value in it's rainbow path.

You certainly can not give to them in good conscience and to not answer the letter with a proper rebuke would be acceptance by omission.
For too long good men have stayed silent.
Yep, the RCC is about the only ones who do not support it, but there’s plenty of low hanging fruits still about. You’ll be seeing the push in the Baptist church - that will be where the fight is now. The concept that ‘we should follow society or follow Christ’.
I don’t envy the Baptists, and we’ll see what happens now. I’m not sure how long they will hold out for.
