The House Ways and Means Committee holds the first Congressional hearing on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) subjecting applicants for tax-exempt status to higher levels of scrutiny based on political leanings.
Witnesses include Acting IRS Commissioner Steve Miller who resigned on Wednesday and the Treasury Departments Inspector General Russell George for Tax Administration.
Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) said the IRS' targeting of "American taxpayers based on politics is both astounding and appalling." He stated that the Committee will "get to the bottom of this practice and ensure it never takes place again.
In announcing the hearing, Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) said that it is "essential that there be a thorough and bipartisan investigation and effective remedial action.
Since June 2011, the Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating whether the Internal Revenue Service discriminated against taxpayers based on political opinions.
Miller...’it was just poor customer service’
Omg!! We are not his customers but we are poor now thanks to Obama and the democrats...lol
Isn’t it just magical how when the republican questioner is getting somewhere his five minutes are up. Wow!
So the IRS targeting United States citizens for their political leanings is “terrible customer service?” Unbelieveable....
Nullified the law, acted in contempt of the supreme court, and used a government agency to rig an election...
“man of lawlessness”
A voluntary system, my A$$!
It reminds me of wolves being interrogated by poodle puppies.
What strikes me the most about this whole charade is that people are missing the forest for the trees. The whole system, including the whole 501c contrivance, is fundamentally immoral, unconstitutional, and un-American.
Heh. What are YOU reading, you Free Reoublic radical you???.
Miller - “Horrible customer service”.
Geez, I didn’t know that this was a hearing on why my McDonald French fries were cold.
Local (MN) medie memes are “why should teaparty groups be given tax-emempt status” ?
Did you read what Lanny Davis said? And Max Baucus? Sounds like a closet full of shoes coming..
Yep. It ‘s voluntary all right.
The person asked to submit a book report sent them the book and said :...read it for yourself!
I’m cubicle-bound and can’t watch, but from the comments I take it it is not going well for the Republicans?
Yep, all a dog and pony show today. What a farce. The Obama IRS is still insisting this wasn’t politically motivated.
So now the only real question is: what is the GOP going to do about it?
Boo hoo says this Xavier guy from California, boo hoo for the poor Irs.
He promoted that awful women from that non profit section because she was a stellar employee.
Heh.
I will submit a book report for the groups full review...ROTFLOL!!
What I meant was “leveling the field regarding the nations” where citizens are stripped of their rights and nations become turd world like countries.
Now getting irritated that we have gotten NO NAMES!!!
Get people’s names and then get them to testify...
And Pubbies, stop letting the dims equate similarity to “progressives” being targeted in the past...there is NO comparison...bring up Obozo’s half-bro....
It is infuriating to hear the IG say there was no partisan motive. This is just insanity. We are living in a bizzarro world. The Reps need to puncture this balloon. We do know that the IRS employees contribute overwhelmingly to the Dems. IT WAS PARTISAN.
I keep waiting for that moron, Miller, to “Do The Freddie”.
