The commander in chief of the American armed forces today forced a violation of Marine Corps regulations, so he wouldnt get wet.
According to Marine Corps regulation MCO P1020.34F of the Marine Corps Uniform Regulations chapter 3, a male Marine is not allowed to carry an umbrella while in uniform. There is no provision in the Marine Corps uniform regulation guidelines that allows a male Marine to carry an umbrella.
Nevertheless, during a press conference under a light drizzle with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan this morning, President Obama allowed the First Head to be protected from the elements by an umbrella held by a male Marine corporal.
The relevant portion of the regulation reads, 3035. UMBRELLAS (Female Marines). Female Marines may carry an all-black, plain standard or collapsible umbrella at their option during inclement weather with the service and dress uniforms. It will be carried in the left hand so that the hand salute can be properly rendered. Umbrellas may not be used/carried in formation nor will they be carried with the utility uniform.
Thank you for the actual event, with men just as honorable as those on D-Day.

This speech is from that day in 1983 - quite a contrast from what is going on today, esp. with respect to Benghazi. Excerpts:
“If this country is to remain a force for good in the world, we’ll face times like these, times of sadness and loss. Your fellow citizens know and appreciate that Marines and their families are carrying a heavy burden....
...commit our resources and risk the lives of those in our Armed Forces to rescue others from bloodshed and turmoil and to prevent humankind from drowning in a sea of tyranny....”
...The world looks to America for leadership. And America looks to the men in its Armed Forces — to the Corps of Marines, to the Navy, the Army. Freedom is being tested throughout the world....
...As ever, Leathernecks are willing to accept their mission and do their duty. This honest patriotism and dedication to duty overwhelms the rest of us....
...In a free society there’s bound to be disagreement about any decisive course of action. Some of those so quick to criticize our operation in Grenada, I invite them to read the letters I’ve received from those students and their families. They know this was no invasion; they know it was a rescue mission. Marines have a saying — ``We take care of our own.’’ Well, America, with the help of Marines, will take care of our own.”
In his defense, I think we’ve all seen the water scene in “The Wizard of Oz”, and the water scene in the movie “Alien Nation”.
Thanks onyx.

If anyone can tell me how to make it so the pic appears in my post, I’d much appreciate it.
That’s the posting photo of the week.
Good job, soldier. My apologies about that thing you must salute (and I'm not talking about any flag).
0bama called in the Marines to hold his umbrella but wouldn’t to protect our ambassador in Benghazi
“The Marine looks none to happy.”

No, he does not. Serving in this capacity must be quite challenging at times.
The regime showed the world it is so incompetent it can’t conduct an outdoor news conference.
An administration incapable of looking at the weather channel radar to see if it is going to rain is grievously incompetent.
“I dare say, the same form of real honor, that flowed through Ronald’s veins and arteries flow through yours.”

Marine not a soldier.
Thanks
Thanks. My goof. Too early in the morning, I was still on the first cup of coffee.
Agree in full with your statements.
P.J. wondered, if getting sent to live in a tent on a tropical rock, in the summer, and spending the night climbing a mountain composed of sharp and abrasive volcanic stones, in the dark, in stifling heat, and 100% humidity, was a reward for outstanding service, just what the Marine Corps did to junior enlisted men it was not pleased with...
Not a class A, summer dress. Still, got to be happy with the extra uniform allowance.
