Steyn warns of ‘serious secession movements’ if drift toward socialism not reversed
The Daily Caller ^ | 5/16/13 | The Daily Caller

Radio host Dennis Miller and National Review columnist Mark Steyn considered Thursday the possible outcomes if the United States continues down the path of socialism.

If socialism became the prevailing governing philosophy, Miller speculated, escaping it wouldn’t require a move to the Australian outback. Instead he suggested heading for the state of Texas, because it would be the first place to push back against it.

“If I ever do flee, don’t think fleeing has to involve you going over to Alice Springs or something,” Miller said. “I’m going to Texas because that’ll be the first place that pushes back. They’re not going down the tubes with this country if this country decides to go down the tubes. I really think I’d head for Texas.”

Steyn, author of “After America: Get Ready for Armageddon,” took it even further and said that the pushback could go beyond just Texas, because he was doubtful the entire country would go along with it.

There IS that option. I just posted on another thread re: the Noonan article on the IRS...if they don’t clean this house top to bottom, I will become an ex-pat. But a secession is another option.

I’m fighting to regain Colorado from the socialist {expletives}. If that fails - ie. depends on the next election - then Texas is my escape plan. I’d like to go to El Paso or San Antonio, but Dallas-Fort Worth area is where my company has offices...

We’re keeping exPat options open, along with plans to move to TX, OK, MS, AL, etc, where they’ll not put up with Obama Care.

No. not real secession ... yet. Virtual secession. States and individuals should just stop complying to unconstitutional demands by the feds. This is 2013 not the 1860s. Guerilla warfare not conventional.

I heard an interview with Tom Tancredo today and he is putting together a run for Governor in 2014. He stated he will run as a republican and seems to be doing the ground work needed. It may be Colorado’s last chance to turn this thing around.

You couldn’t have picked more socialist enclaves than those two...well Austin is right up there.

Sorry but this is a dream. Just check the number of illegal aliens in Texas and the annual increase in their number. IIRC by the end of this decade, just 7 years from now, they will be the majority in Texas i.e. more than 50% of the total population.

The Rats are registering the illegals to vote right now and if the traitorous 4 in the Senate-Rubio (FL)-Flake (Az)- Graham (SC)-and McCain (Az), succeed, the the illegals will be 'legalized' and the Rats will get an unassailable majority to destroy the country.

The fast way to rid a red state of freeloaders/dems is to cut social welfare in the state to the bone.

The certain way to destroy the progressive/communist movement is the next time the repubs rule the white house allow several states to secede. If they tried to secede during democrat rule the result would be massive bloodshed.
This would be the last repub administration since many red states would be gone.

Everyone with a lick of sense knows what would happen to the democrat states once they were stripped of the ability to steal money from the producers. Most smart productive people would settle in the new free republic states.

I would advise the new free states adopt the constitution but make a few clarifying changes.
-Strengthen and clarify the 2nd amendment.
-Only taxpayers or property owners or military vets get the vote
-Clarify the original intent of the separation of church and state.

the country is already destroyed...those illegals are already voting....

shouldn't our attitude be that conservatives/pubs represent the little man?..the workers?..the middle class getting clobbered...???

shouldn't we try to bring all those votes our way?...

“I’m going to Texas because that’ll be the first place that pushes back.”

.
Don’t be too sure of that — liberalism is definitely making inroads into Texas.

Dallas County went Obama last time. The only way to protect Texas from colonization is succession. Not gonna happen. It’s only a matter of time ‘till we go blue.

I'm sure he got 100% of the vote in Oak Lawn.

“Only taxpayers or property owners or military vets get the vote”

Imagine how different things would be if that was in the Constitution. Of course, the courts would probably define “taxpayer” to include anyone who had ever paid a sales tax anywhere...
