The Winchester (Va.) Police Department is taking a close look at its officers' weapons holsters after an officer's gun accidentally went off in a special needs school bus.
The incident occurred Monday morning when a middle school student reached for a police officer's gun, reports TV3Winchester. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The officer had been dispatched to the bus to calm down the student. While the officer was sitting next to him, the student reached over and put his finger on the trigger of the weapon. The bullet went through the seat and hit the floor.

If you mean the gun in the glove compartment is loaded, you can’t do that here in Ohio w/o CCL...

Talking about unusual holsters, I think the Sovs had one for the Makarov that was open in the front and slit all the way down the side. You pushed it out the front with your palm on the grip, and the holster cycled the slide to chamber a round. I think the trigger was still covered while it was holstered, though.

This was SOP for people carrying revolvers for decades. Don’t want your firearm to discharge? Keep your finger out of the trigger guard!
Then pistols became popular, and somehow 1-3 manually-actuated safeties became necessary for many. And many of them seem to think such should be mandatory.
I do not understand this.
Regarding this incident, not using a proper retention holster in that environment borders on criminal negligence by the cop.

Nah, it’s not. The gun is in a holster and the magazine is in the center console.
The laws are similar here in florida I think. Basically, they demand they we law abiding citizens give every possible advantage to any potential attacker -_-;
Yep, my buddy as a Springfield .45 cal.. I admire that weapon as well. I really love how easy they are to clean, and exceptionally reliable in terms of not jamming.
Trusting a safety is a good way to get hurt. The 1911 is a good design, so is the glock.
I’ve never beat my glock with a hammer but its never gone off except when I wanted it too. odd
I like glocks and I like 1911s. I prefer my sigs but am looking at kimber when I get the money.

I loved shooting the SIG. The 'de-cock' lever gave me emotional issues. Princess wanted a Sig, so she got that. I took a 1911 variant. Hers cost about twice what mine cost. Of course, her wedding ring cost about 40 times what mine cost.
I always hated the Glock from the first time I held one. If I want something that feels like a 2x4, I'll use a 2x4.
It is VERY subjective and very personal.

My post was simply answering a question...somebody increduously asked me which type of gun wouldn’t go if if the trigger were pulled.
I answered.

Here in Mississippi your car is an extension of your home. We are also a Castle Doctrine State. No permit needed to carry loaded in your car. CCW permit needed to conceal carry and I have one. Our great Governor Phil Bryant signed Open Carry into law and it goes into effect on July 1. I love freedom.

I can put 5 rounds in a 1 inch circle with either of my sigs at 7 yds. About 2 inches with my glock. Still working on 25yds which is hard given the price of ammo these days.
1911s are good and I’m looking at the kimber and possibly a colt gold cup. We’ll see how the budget works out.
My guess is a Glock also.
