Men who are physically strong are more likely to have right wing political views

Men who are physically strong are more likely to take a right wing political stance, while weaker men are inclined to support the welfare state, according to a new study.

Researchers discovered political motivations may have evolutionary links to physical strength.

Men's upper-body strength predicts their political opinions on economic redistribution, according to the research.

The principal investigators - psychological scientists Michael Bang Petersen, of Aarhus University in Denmark, and Daniel Sznycer, of the University of California in the U.S., believe that the link may reflect psychological traits that evolved in response to our early ancestral environments and continue to influence behaviour today.

I prefer domestic beer, especially now that there are so many good craft breweries here in the US of A.

As for the left, picture Sidney Blumenthal, Hillary’s favorite pear-shaped wussy boy.

Strong men have the self discipline to work out and stay in shape. They have strong bodies they have to use carefully.

My son, for instance, could do serious harm to anyone in a fight and so he has to have his temper under control and engage his leadership skills and brain. He would rather talk his way out of a fight than have to seriously harm an idiot.

He has to use his strong body and fighting skills in protection of himself and others and can’t act like an aggressive, immoral thug, leftist bully. This precludes him from being an out of control, smash mouth, violent leftist nerd. He’s a Christian and played lax and football. He’s an American-American.

I’m physically strong and conservative but I believe this line of analysis fits right along with married women who have kids being more likely to be conservative. The welfare state and leftism/liberalism is outright hostile to those who aren’t weak, incapable, and needy. A stable family with a strong provider and strong caregiver is the anthesis to big govt. A person who takes responsibility and just deals with their own problems and takes care of themselves and their family is an adult and big govt/leftism is contingent on a population of people with adult bodies and juvenile attitudes.

Maybe not outlaw them. But they do want common sense gym control laws.

We need three day waiting periods between sets.

Well the problem with tough union types is they have been brainwashed into union dependency. Also most union members who are in the trades/mining/industrial are far more conservative than the average Democrat.

Obviously, this is not breaking news. Conservatives have seen liberals as sissies for a very long time.

I’m curious about the direction of causation here, if any. Do conservative men get and stay in shape because they see being able to defend themselves and their families as part of their responsibilities, or do men who are in shape favor conservative values because they don’t need Nanny Bloomberg to protect them? My guess is at least mostly the first direction. My antipathy toward unions comes from being threatened by union thugs when I was a weak 5’ tall teenager. That was also the incident that triggered my lifelong devotion toward being fit and physically capable of defending myself against such thugs.

The guys/friends I knew who worked in factories and were union members were socially worlds apart from your college-type, liberal/leftist jerkwads. Their social views pretty much reflected your basic conservative positions. It mostly came down to they were in closed union shops. Everybody who was not in management belonged to the union. That put the automatically at odds with management who they associated with Republicans. And of course, most of them grew up in Democrat homes with their parents constantly telling them how evil Republicans were. Like my parents.

But it usually came down to money. Most union members thought they were worth more than they actually were. And they thought management was always cheating them out of what they thought were their rightful wage increases. But socially, the great majority were/are law and order types many of whom served in the military.

I have an alternate theory: Bullying
Bullied boys are emasculated and look to teachers for help. This allegience transfers to the state. They seek to escape from torment though fantasy or trying to fix the world. And they often come to blame traditional society for their bullying. This is more pronounced among the intelligent ones, the "nerds".

You idiots are high fiving your masculinity, when this abuse has led to the loss of many of the best minds in America. High five yourselves, while you wonder why the internet is dominated by the left. High five your masculinity, as donations from the information class funds the left.

On Heavy days, the time between Sets contracts to nearly nothing. A two minute timer goes off inside of 10 seconds. Barely enough time to get your breath back and you still have the blood rushing in your ears from the last bone-crushing Set you did.

We need a limit on high-capacity squat racks and any bar that holds more than 50 lbs. After all, how much weight do you really need to work out?

Only some whack-a-doo Extremist would be against such a common sense regulation.

"That put the automatically at odds with management who they associated with Republicans."

I don't know if its an example of history repeating itself or just parallel universes; but, I see your observation as similar to my experience in college (68-72).

People talked about freedom; free speech, free thought and freedom from government. A social revolution was taking place and people were rebelling against the government (among other things) and because Nixon was in the White House democrat party recruitment had a field day on every campus in the nation. Many people who were anti-war accepted a lot of the garbage that came with voting democrat even though it was counter to their values.

A lot of us realized that the democrat party was not about freedom and drifted away at different points in our lives. But, the party managed to hang on to a lot of people with fringe issues like marijuana.

I was picked on a school, and I’m not a physically strong man, and yet I’m a conservative (formerly liberal). What the hell is wrong with me?
