On Monday, former Washington Wizards center Jason Collins revealed to the world that he is gay, prompting a complete media meltdown. Collins appeared on Good Morning America; he made the cover of Sports Illustrated; he became the lead on Huffington Post. The president of the United States congratulated him at a press conference, and the former president of the United States congratulated him via Twitter. So did the first lady, the commissioner of the National Basketball Association and a bevy of pundits and athletes across the spectrum.
Which leaves one question: What's the big deal?
Tennis star Martina Navratilova, the best player of her era, came out in 1981. Ellen Degeneres came out on national television in 1997. The president and CEO of the Golden State Warriors, Rick Welts, is openly gay. Top politicians, rock stars, athletes, movie and television stars and business moguls are gay. Gay Americans have been announcing their sexual orientation for decades. Why the hubbub?
The media announced that Collins was a hero because he had provided hope to millions of gay male teens. There is some credibility to that argument. But there is another, more powerful aftertaste from the media's champagne party for Collins: The bitter feeling that America is a nasty place, so nasty that we require overwhelming shows of support for people who just want to live their lives. When the media labels Collins another Jackie Robinson, that not only does massive injustice to Robinson, it implies that America of 2013 is to sexuality what America of 1947 was to race. That is not only ignorant. It is tremendously harmful.
The hubbub from the media assumes that America is a massively homophobic place -- a place where people like Collins must regularly fear for their lives,

No...
Most are either “homodisgustus” or “homoshutupus”.
Either the behavior disgusts us or we wish you’d just shut up about your behavior.....or both.
Compared to the Middle East? No.
And now he’s a “star” and I heard one idiot call him a “basketball powerhouse”. What morons.
This guy spent his career on the bench.
Perhaps the time has come when Christians need to ask, “Do I love sports more than Jesus?” How much time do we spend with each? How much money do we give to each?
A disruptive and repulsive disorder should not be forced on anyone nor should anyone be expected to accept it as "normal". Their diseases and attempted rapes of normal children are not "harmless" and they do not appear capable of controlling these impulses. Not unusual with the mentally ill.
Disorders are called that for a reason. Political fashion does not make it anything else. It is a mental illness.
Its amazing how the definition of homophobic has evolved over time. To avoid being called homophobic, you needed to:
1) tolerate the Gay-lifestyle,
2) then, you had to accept it,
3) and then, you had to approved it,
4) and now it seems, you have to endorse it,
5) what will be next, practice it?
Oh, and I've never been afraid of homos. They're queer, but they definitely do not scare me.
Bingo! If a fag asks out another guy, and he turns him down because he doesn't date fags, it will be made into a hate crime. They will act like he just told a black girl that he doesn't date her kind.
What’s “nasty” is two dudes playing in their own poop.
The homosexual agenda scored a smashing victory when they invented inventing the word “homophobia” and America embraced it. It says we are the crazy ones.
It says we (the normal moral ones ) are the crazy ones.
No but the leftist are along with the progressives...
Etymology 1
homo (from homosexual) + -phobia, coined in 1971 by George Weinberg in Society and the Healthy Homosexual.

there is a simple response.
regardless of your feelings towards the various NBA teams... boycott all of it.
do not attend
do not watch
do not listen
do not buy any paraphernalia
let them reap the same rewards as JC Penney
When you force something on me constantly that I find abhorrent and perverse, you get a typical response. The fact is, it’s a mental disorder, I’m not compelled to regard it as anything other than what it is. I don’t laugh at them and make them feel like its something to celebrate.
What kind of "hope"? Are "millions of gay male teens" suddenly capable of becoming professional basketball players? Does Mr. Collins's announcement change the life expectancy stats for homosexuals or address any of their physical and mental pathologies?
Maybe he means that millions of teenage boys (really? millions?) now can "hope" to get lots of attention and special treatment by talking about their sexual activity. Wow, what an accomplishment! But on the other hand, Kim Kardashian is rich and famous ...
Caligula had his cheerleaders, too. Fish. Head. Rot.
