It is time for a dishwasher. My last dishwasher was replaced three times by the manufacturer before I ripped it out and started handwashing. time to go back to dishwashers and I cannot find a timed dishwasher, just ones that are ENERGY EFFIEICENT with sensors.
The biggest problem I had with the newer untimed dishwashers is that I would have to rinse the dishes instead of scraping them.
the second problem is that because I did not rinse them, they ran for six to eight hours becaus there was debris that the sensors picked up.
Lousy design.
I am looking for a good dishwasher, that can actually be effective and clean the dishes now that the EPA doesnt permit us to have phosphates. Or timed washes.
Any war stories? Most of the dishwasher reviews out there aree actually paid ad reviews placed by an agent of the manufacturer.
Forget consomer reports.
Dishwashers have the cold water plumbed to them?
Yep!!
No doubt........
Yes, the dog prewash is one way to go
Have a Miele vacuum... love it! My Bosch dishwasher is a POS and I am gonna put some bad hurt on it so it breaks and I can forgive myself for spending all of that dough on junk and buying generic American dishwasher.
Depending on the type, they can often be hacked.
*Locks* that are integrated electronically cannot be hacked.
*Latches* that simply keep the lid closed during agitation or spinning, can be. Some are a simple wiring job, others, which are magnetic, can be unscrewed from the lid and taped permanently w/Gorilla tape to the machine top and the machine thinks the lid is closed.
For the closest thing to an old fashioned washer, search with the terms mechanical rotary controls. I have a new one from GE:
GE 3.9 DOE cu. ft. Stainless Steel Capacity Washer Model # GTWN2800DWW.
See information here:

Hotpoint also makes one
Hotpoint 3.5 cu. ft. DOE Top Load Washer in White
Model # HSWP1000MWW
Internet # 203517068
Store SO SKU # 589681

Google your model/brand washer to see if there is a hack for the lid lock. Include the terms: “disable lid lock”.
You can put in your own soap...before you close the lid and it automatically locks. You have to push a button and count to three to stop it in its cycle.
The new ones are more sensitive to hard water, I think. A good slug of borax may help if you don’t have a water softener.
I have been married to my dishwasher for 50 years and not one problem with her.
Ha. Paper plates don’t count !
I think that's what I have.
My good friends sell Maytag and I ordered it over the phone.
That's why I was surprised at how much they had changed since my last purchase.
Which Bosch do you have and why dont you like it?
I’m still looking in The US Constitution where the federal is granted the power to require us to buy certain appliances,light-bulbs,low-flow toilets, etc.,ad nauseum.....The”Rats”seem to find ALL kinds of things in The US Constitution that NOBODY else ever discovered whilst ignoring the limitations of powers therein granted to the federal government!!!Apparently, they are COMPLETELY unaware of the Ninth and Tenth Amendments(as they are The Second)!!I am thoroughly disgusted but where else is there to go but Belize??????????????????????????????????????
That is the same Bosch I have! it has convinced me that Europeans are Idiots! I HATE THAT THANG!
Fascism creeps.
Funny how appliance shopping is a microsm of our political life.
Just like the Soviets and Cuba and many other countries.
Their machines reflect their philosophy.
It was the Womens Lib movement - not the EPA - that ruined my dishwasher.
That is the same Bosch I have! it has convinced me that Europeans are Idiots! I HATE THAT THANG!

Why?
Go to the paint store or to Lowes or Home Depot and buy some TSP...make sure it is Tri Sodium Phosphate, and does not say ‘Phosphate Free’.
Bosch is the best!
