Republican Sens. Marco Rubio and Scott Brown joined John McCain in denouncing the congresswoman's Muslim witch hunt
Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, a rising star in the party and a potential vice-presidential pick for Mitt Romney, said this morning that he disagreed with Republican Rep. Michele Bachmanns baseless call to investigate Muslim Brotherhood infiltration in the U.S. government.
Appearing on NPRs Diane Rehm show, Rubio was asked by a caller if he would join Republican Sen. John McCains strong condemnation of the anti-Muslim witch hunt on the Senate floor yesterday. While Rubio said he doesnt personally know Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton whom Bachmann accused of being connected to the Brotherhood, the Florida Republican said, Wveryone I talk to who has dealt with her, [says she is] a professional and hardworking and patriotic American who loves her country and in the service of her country is serving it.
I am not a signatory to that letter, Rubio said of Bachmanns letters to the inspectors general of several national security agencies demanding investigations. I dont share the feelings that are in that letter. Obviously, every member of Congress has a right to express their opinion and every member of Congress is held accountable for their opinion, if theyre right or if theyre wrong.
I can tell you that I dont share the feelings that are in that letter, he continued, And in fact, Im very very careful and cautious about ever making accusations like that about anyone.
Rubios comments are decidedly more circumspect than McCains, but it is still unusual for someone in his position to speak out publicly against someone in his own party. Bachmann has also earned scorn from her former presidential campaign manager, Ed Rollins, who said Bachmanns witch hunt is extreme and dishonest. Shame on you, Michele! Rollins wrote.
UPDATE: Sen. Scott Brown, the Republican from Massachusetts facing off against Democrat Elizabeth Warren in November, took to Twitter to strongly condemn Bachmann by name:
Rep. Bachmanns accusations about Sec. Clinton aide Huma Abedin are out-of-line. This kind of rhetoric has no place in our public discourse

Rubio is certainly no mastermind for a policy that those seeking to make America more like humanity as a whole, launched before he was born. He has been suckered into his present stand, by those appealing to his having been Blessed by being allowed to come here and thrive. It is the same approach that has misled millions and millions of other Americans of a whole panoply of different ethnic backgrounds. The way to respond to it is with logical arguments, not insults to those who have been misled--the insults only make them hunker down and persist is dangerous and destructive folly.

Wow! Did not know that Rubio had Norquist as an advisor and spokesmen. Very bad...he better wake up and smell the roses.
yeah, that is what I said in my post.
Which is not what Rubio did in his statement.
Bachmann is not my favorite Republican but if you said we could fill the Capitol with either Bachmanns or Rubios, I’d choose Bachmanns without hesitation.
Okay, thanks. Just trying to be sure what you meant.
“Wow! Did not know that Rubio had Norquist as an advisor and spokesmen. Very bad...he better wake up and smell the roses.”
You need to read this. It gets worse.
WHO is Cesar Conda??
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3007546/posts
[snip]
Today, the Democrat party and it’s leader, Barak Obama, seem intent on destroying everything we ‘natives’ have become accustomed to in our way of life... free markets, marriage, family, the 2nd amendment and the right to self preservation. They refuse to enforce many of our laws, promote destruction of our many cultures, refuse to protect our borders and national sovereignty and give us no government representation.
We look to our GOP leaders, just as the Cherokee looked to Ross, and what do we find? Feckless crybabies like John Boehner and the squishy moderate Mitch McConnell, who prop up the democrats more often than not.
Then rides in the great ‘Tea Party’ Hispanic savior, Marco Rubio to ‘save us’. Because he ‘looks’ more like the opposition. He ‘speaks’ the language of the NEW constituency! He’s the GOP’s latest token ‘trojan horse’.
Who is really behind Marco Rubio, and what do they want? The Tea Party citizens thought it was them!!! He talked the talk, and fooled us all. No, he hasn’t been taken over by Obama and the left, as far as we know. He is part of the enemy within the right. And for the past 30 years, it is always the same players. They are lobbyists who our legislators hire to write our legislation because most of our elected officials let them in exchange for campaign dollars. It is ALWAYS follow the money.
Even John Ross willingly sacrificed his own people to keep his power and to hold out for more federal dollars for Cherokee lands. The Cherokee Tribe was destroyed because they were incapable of realizing who their real enemies were. It appears we are no more enlightened than the ‘savages’. We have no excuse for our ignorance, other than BLIND loyalty to sacred cows who should have been hamburger by now!
Meet Cesar Conda, chief of staff, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., close associate and fellow amnesty pusher of Grover Norquist, who last week called all of us who want our borders secured, “Bitter enders”, He might as well have called us ‘Savages’.
Here is detailed some of the undermining of immigration law these two have accomplished over 3 decades, including working closely with Stephen Moore of the Cato Institute, Conda circulated a statement against Prop. 187 of California in the nineties. The race baiting they pulled on Alan Simpson when he tried to enforce the borders in the 90’s was nothing but disgusting.
Conda, an immigration lawyer, was Vice President Dick Cheneys chief domestic policy adviser. After leaving there, Conda went to work for George Soros on the editorial advisory board of the Soros publication, The International Economy Magazine.
Even amnesty pushers on the left like Conda!
[snip] I think Cesar is the right man for the job, said Frank Sharry, founder and executive director of the pro-immigration reform group Americas Voice. Rubio is really lucky to have Cesar Conda as his chief of staff. Conda...has been working on the issue since the early 1990s when he was part of a group of young, libertarian-minded, pro-immigration conservatives. His government experience runs deep: He worked for former Sen. Spencer Abraham, R-Mich., and was an aide to Vice President Dick Cheney. He also spent time in the private sector as a lobbyist and analyst for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and founded the Washington office of a consulting firm called Navigators Global.
Conda was also involved with The National Foundation for American Policy, a Newt Gingrich group. Don’t be fooled, Newt is all about amnesty and has always been!
” Started in 2003, the National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to public policy research on trade, immigration, and other issues of national importance. Its Advisory Board members include ....Cesar Conda.... and other prominent individuals.”
This statement sums up the Rubio/Conda relationship:
“The White Houses lawyer-friendly draft shows that it has outsourced the formation of immigration policy to the American Immigration Lawyers Association, said Camarota. Some of the eight senators also employ staffers who are trained immigration lawyers or who have lobbied for the immigration association before. In 2003, for example, Cesar Conda, Rubios chief of staff, lobbied the White House on behalf of the lawyers association....Given Sen. Rubios role in a smear campaign [using SPLC talking points] against pro-enforcement groups, said Steve Camarota, the research director at the Center for Immigration Studies, it does raise the question of how serious he is about enforcement.”
Conda worked as an advocate for the immigration lawyers association.
“As a founding partner of a lobbying firm, Navigators Global, he attended a 2003 meeting in the White House to promote a policy favored by the lawyers group, which stands to gain enormously from any law that expands or complicates immigration law.
In the late 1990s, Conda also worked as the legislative director for one-term GOP Sen. Spencer Abraham. In 2000, Abraham lost his Michigan Senate seat after NumbersUSA highlighted Abrahams role in defeating a bipartisan immigration reform bill that would have curbed legal and illegal immigration.
During that 1996 immigration debate, Abraham opposed an employee-identification plan in the bill that would have required and helped employers reject applicants who were not allowed to legally work in the United States.”
Conda had a part in the expensive bank bail outs.
“At this lobbying outfit, Cesar Conda is one of the lobbyists on the Citigroup account. Previously, DC Navigators was one of AIG’s go-to firmsuntil the insurance company halted its lobbying efforts last fall under congressional pressure. AIG, which has received $182 billion from the government, including $40 billion in TARP funds, spent more than $9 million on lobbying in 2008”
Conda was a lobbyist for private prisons who love open borders and government $$$ to incarcerate illegal aliens.
“They also now have a paid lobbyist working in the office of a Republican Senator at the forefront of the immigration debate, in a state with major immigration issues. Take for example the chief of staff to young Republican superstar Marco Rubio, Cesar Conda. Conda still maintains ties to a powerful lobbying firm in Florida that has lobbied for the GEO Group. In fact, he still maintains partial ownership, and was paid between $50,000-$100,000 by the firm after he became Rubios chief of staff.. So hes still being paid by companies like the GEO Group while working as the number-one guy to a US Senator. So the GEO Group has revenues of nearly $2 billion per year, much of which comes from the federal government as payment for detaining immigrants. It has spent more than $5 million in lobbying and political contributions in the past 8 years”
Remember when we warned the Tea Party about getting involved with Dick Armey’s Freedom works because he has always been pro amnesty??.....
Cesar Conda is a senior fellow at Freedom Works and an editorial advisory board member of International Economy Magazine. He is a volunteer policy advisor to the Mitt Romney presidential campaign.
Conda actually states here that the Gang of 8 plan isn’t AMNESTY!! You need no more than that to know you are being CONNED BIG TIME!
Think of it! illegal aliens vote democrat. Fact. They believe it is Obama working for them. All these GOP open border amnesty purveyors like Conda get no credit for the decades of work they’ve done on the behalf of foreign nationals. Instead, Obama gets all their glory. Ignorance never changes. And History repeats itself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last Tea Party rally I saw was in support of Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump and I'm sure Michelle Bachmann would be an easy choice over Rubio for Tea Partiers.
How can this article talk about Rubio and Bachmann and conclude that Rubio is the Tea Party favorite of the two?
“How can this article talk about Rubio and Bachmann and conclude that Rubio is the Tea Party favorite of the two? “
Because it’s a leftist rag. What is really sad is how Bachmann went to bat for Rubio during his election.
2011
[snip]Bachmann also made sure to work in a crowd-pleasing reference to Florida’s new Cuban-American U.S. Senator, whose name drew similar cheers when she brought it up Sunday in Sarasota.
Saying the U.S. Senate needs 13 more Republicans to give the GOP filibuster-proof control, Bachmann said she’d like the new senators to be “on the order of Marco Rubio. I want to bring on 13 more people cut out of the same cloth as Marco Rubio and (South Carolina Sen.) Jim DeMint.”
Asked by a reporter about Rubio as a vice presidential nominee, Bachmann said, “I’ve spoken with Marco Rubio. He is a wonderful man. He has a wonderful reputation in Washington, D.C., and I don’t disclose the private contents of the conversation.”
She was 100% right on the Muslim Brotherhood infiltration. Sad that she was thrown under the bus.
LOL! Like Joe Scarborough?
I meant there is no defense for RUBIO.
He’s either a willing pawn, or too stupid to be allowed near Washington DC.
Rubio is on the other team completely.
Much of this has to do with what Grover Norquist referred to as ‘marginalizing’ the opposition.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio went on seven Sunday talk shows to pitch a bipartisan immigration reform deal, while a handful of Republican lawmakers famous for their wacky cable news interviews can’t get any attention. An anti-immigration “gang of six” in the House is trying to stop the pro-immigration “gang of eight” in the Senate, The National Review’s Robert Costa reports, but hardly anyone’s listening. The six are cable TV favorites: Minnesota’s Michele Bachmann, Iowa’s Steve King, Texas’ Louie Gohmert, Alabama’s Mo Brooks, Pennsylvania’s Lou Barletta, and California’s Dana Rohrabacher. There were zero “anti-amnesty” Sunday show guests the week before Rubio’s grand tour. The most popular cable guests of the six — Bachmann, King, and Gohmert — haven’t been invited on cable to talk immigration in the last three months, according to Lexis Nexis. They complain the GOP isn’t listening to them either.
The meetings of the Gang of Eight and the secret meetings in the House of Representatives the people who have been standing up for the Constitution and the rule of law havent been invited to those meetings, King tells the assembled group of reporters...
“Weve got all the rich guys and the elitists talking to each other,” Rohrabacher says. “Unfortunately us regular folks dont have that kind of coordination.”
The Daily Caller’s Mickey Kaus lamented last week that in the Sunday political talk shows, the networks didn’t even haul in “the kookiest anti-amnesty crackpot.” The GOP doesn’t want to hear from the kooks either.
Rubio is just an amnesty pimp. His RINO credentials were confirmed back when he pimped for Mittens before the end of the nomination fight. They’re all just pimps trying to prostitute us for money and political power. I for one want nothing to do with it.
But what he is trying to sell with this immigration reform thing is so all-encompassing and so obviously lethal to this country that I will never support anyone who endorses it. IMO it is the unforgivable sin.
“She was 100% right on the Muslim Brotherhood infiltration. Sad that she was thrown under the bus.”
According the Rubio’s immigration advisor, Grover Norquist, that would be ‘marginalized’....

The McCain, Rubio, Norquist, Conda Amnesty train will not allow any opposition to be heard. They’ve got the media, just like the left does. “Marginalize” the opposition is what Norquist preaches and THAT should bother all of you!
I didn't notice if they talked with each other.
Norquist got polite applause. Michelle enthusiastic applause.
