U.S. Senators said on Thursday it was time to intervene in Syria, after the United States said for the first time that Syria had likely used chemical weapons against rebel forces.
Sen. Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in a statement that President Bashar Al-Assad had crossed a red line and that the international community should act to ensure his fall.
"The situation in Syria is clearly deteriorating. The Assad regime has crossed a red line by using chemical weapons, which forces us to consider all options as to how we act to influence the balance of the conflict, said Menendez.
Among these options would be the enforcement of an internationally-recognized no-fly zone, providing lethal assistance to vetted opposition forces, and sanctioning the transfer of arms to the regime, he added. The greatest humanitarian crisis in the world exists in and around Syria. It is clear that we must act to assure the fall of Assad, the defeat of extremist groups, and the rise of democracy. We must do everything possible to prevent the regime's use of chemical weapons and to ensure those stockpiles are secure."

But it’s okay to drone American citizens on US soil?
We don’t have a dog in this fight. stay out of it.
These are the very same people who cried we shouldn’t go into Iraq when Bush was President.
Who are these senators representing?
I doubt the American people have any desire at all to
go into yet another middle eastern country
to instill democracy...
Gee, what could go wrong?
No American blood for Muslims. ANY Muslims. EVER.
I think we should quit giving aid, advice and only do what business we have to with the muzzies.
Stay out. No matter what you do for or to a muslim, at the end of the day, you’re still the infidel.
Thanks.
“These are the very same people who cried we shouldnt go into Iraq when Bush was President.”
Every day on Twitter Mia Farrow points out the horrible atrocities happening in Syria. Being she is such a left winger I’m wondering why, she seems to be trying to gather support for the U.S. to go in there. It would basically be another Iraq and I’m sure she was one of the ones saying we need to get out of Iraq, Bush’s war, blah blah blah.
Syria is in it’s own civil war, and a quandry and I don’t see why the left wants us in there, and I don’t trust their reasons...at all.
No, no, no, no, no. No more involvement in that craphole section of the world. There is no benefit, there is only sacrificing our young and our treasure, and they end up hating us even more because they think we are so far beyond stupid to try to save people who would kill us. AND THEY’RE RIGHT. There is no clean end to this turd.
Squirrel!
Agreed.
Gee, the Looney Left wants another war in the Middle East over WMDs, but this time the Democrats want us to side with Al Qaeda against Assad.
What could go wrong?!
The ONLY action these Senators can expect is another speech from Obozo.
The muslim Brotherhood, of course. Gotta hurry and get the Caliphate up and running and Assad is in the way.
I know, good point. They are supposed to be our “representatives” right? They don’t freaking represent us anymore! SO many of them do whatever the hell that want. They are lawless and spineless little dictators. We don’t want to waste any more of our people’s lives over there. We don’t want our money to keep pouring out on their behalf especially when we’re broke. Let someone else be the world’s police for a change! Enough is enough.
I see no red line. So Syria uses chemical weapons, so?
If its a net benefit to our interests to help the rebels, then we should, if not we shouldn’t. There is clearly no moral high ground between dictator Assad and Islamists.
Made in Iraq?
