Has society really become quite thin-skinned, or is acting “offended” a new tactic that is being used to shut down legitimate political debate? Progressives are increasingly claiming to be offended whenever those on the right disagree with their left-wing positions. It doesn't matter what the issue is; the left will divert a legitimate political debate into an accusation that the right disagrees with them because they are full of hate towards them. This puts the right on the defensive, and removes the real debate from discussion. It then becomes difficult for the right to ever prevail with their position, because to do so would mean “hate” had won.

Excellent. More of us need to use this argument.
I always tell them I’m offended every quarter when I ink those checks payable to the IRS. And when I look at the sales tax total on a register receipt, it offends me.
And when I see all the government deadheads driving around in shiny new vehicles, it offends me when I climb into my 02 Dodge PU withe 360K miles on it.
Look at their gallery of euphemisms to find out what the left is doing that they know is offensive. They have to hide their offensiveness under a heavy blanket of euphemism and misdirection.
Pro-choice: murder
Diversity: elevation of all other cultures above the American culture and elevation of all other races above whites. giving the “preferred” race a pass so that members don’t have to meet the same selection standards for college admission. etc.
undocumented: illegal
social justice: stealing from people who work hard and giving some of their money to the poor, but giving most of it to lawyers and “community organizers” who run shake-down scams
climate change: another shakedown scam that had to change its name when the “science” of global warming became more difficult to fake
My favorite recent example was the kerfuffle about the recording of Mitch McConnell discussing Ashley Judd. David Korn was interviewed about this and claimed it was important and relevant because the tone was mocking and derisive.

The tone is mocking and derisive whenever they speak about a conservative. Tea Party. Sarah Palin. Any conservative person they disagree with. The venom spewed by the left regarding their targets makes anything McConnell said look tame.
So lefties, before you get your panties in a wad about “offensiveness” try checking the mirror.
I blame the useful dupes within the Democratic Party Trash proper for getting rid of the “like” buttons in the local newspapers...
...why we can’t allow citizens making truthful insightful comments getting favorable comments from others, why, that may empower them. But we’ll let the keep the ‘offended’ button and maybe they won’t notice.

The Right has gotten very tired of being the only ones who's values are offended, and has decided it's time to call a spade a spade.
If 'gays' get 'offended' when I call them a FAG - too bad.
If 'undocumented immigrants' get 'offended' when they are called BORDER INVADERS - too bad.
If 'redistributionists' get 'offended' when their 'its for the chilrun' schemes get exposed and are correctly labeled THIEVES - again; too bad.
If 'progressives' get 'offended' when called SOCIALISTs; GOLLY!! too bad.
They can take their mealy-mouthed 'offense' and stick it where our schools are teaching our children it's all right to place things.
