Has society really become quite thin-skinned, or is acting “offended” a new tactic that is being used to shut down legitimate political debate? Progressives are increasingly claiming to be offended whenever those on the right disagree with their left-wing positions. It doesn't matter what the issue is; the left will divert a legitimate political debate into an accusation that the right disagrees with them because they are full of hate towards them. This puts the right on the defensive, and removes the real debate from discussion. It then becomes difficult for the right to ever prevail with their position, because to do so would mean “hate” had won.

The offensenicks pervert a principle that is Christian enough, which is that one should endeavor not to wreck the spiritual growth of a brother or sister by reining in their use of Christian freedoms where appropriate. However when the people involved steadfastly resist redemption, or insist that “society” furnish “their kind” of redemption (e.g. “gay marriage” in the name of “equality”) — it is an abuse and a spiritual train wreck.
I like to tell them that I find whatever leftard drivel they have babbled to be “very offensive.”

Well, often this sort of situation crops up when conservatives try to keep liberals from wholly hogging the political floor (as with the recent “gay marriage” push).

The “I’m offended” card is played on both sides. The way to shut someone down that says they are offended is to let them know their being offended is not your concern, the issue at hand is not about their feelings. Then tell them to grow up.
And that about sums the liberal “argument” up.
Nothing is played more than the race card and nothing is more politically correct than the discussion about race.

The left acting “offended” to sidestep an issue reminds me of Ann Coulter’s complaint of liberals relying on “womanly indignation” to sidestep an issue.
I remember she called it something along the lines of “the doctrine of the the absolute infallibility of a sobbing, hysterical woman.”
If they demand death to chivalry, it’s tempting to treat them as though chivalry was indeed dead. Tell off the weeper the same as if she was a fellow.
