BOSTON (AP) -- In what could be major break in the Boston Marathon case, investigators are on the hunt for a man seen in a department store surveillance video dropping off a bag at the site of the bombings, a local politician said Wednesday.
Separately, a law enforcement official confirmed that authorities have found an image of a potential suspect but don't know his name.
The development - less than 48 hours after the attack, which left three people dead and more than 170 wounded - marked a possible turning point in a case that has investigators analyzing photos and videos frame by frame for clues to who carried out the twin bombings and why.
City Council President Stephen Murphy, who said he was briefed by Boston police, said investigators saw the image on surveillance footage they got from a department store near the finish line and matched the findings with witness descriptions of someone leaving the scene.

This was all over reddit today... The white hat and other descriptors all match up from the original reports. Including a very interesting drawing of a pressure cooker in the bag.

Why does anyone in the media get to see the pictures of the suspect,but not the American people? I understand if LE does not want to release them at all for tactical purposes, but showing them to the MSM is categorical BS! Who the hell are they??

Nope, don’t buy it. They would be trying to leave the country the minute after the bomb went off. Releasing the picture would make everyone on the lookout for them. That includes every airport, train, bus station and anywhere in United States and aboard they would not be safe with a 100 million pairs of eyes looking for them.

That’s true..but I think these two guys would have been too scared to get on board a plane right after this happened..Arab dudes on a plane headed out of Boston right when a terrorist attack happens, they would be the first ones looked at
I think you're right. However, Hannity claimed he did not see the photos that the correspondent he was interviewing did see. Hannity told him he saw photos on a website and proceded to ask if the man in the police photo had a white hat and dressed in black. The correspondent replied "yes, indeed. I can say that and you're probably talking about the same two men the police are looking for".
I can only speculate that these photos are the ones that Hannity was describing.
Hannity was asking Hemmer if he saw the photos that the police distributed and they both said it was the guy in the white hat and black jacket, and the other was the guy with the blue jacket and the full, round backpack. The police are searching for these two men.
