Sorry, PD=Perdogg seems sure that amendments will make this bill impassible. But I wasn't trying to emphasize that in my point.

Anytime the GOP folds to the DEMS Alexander {long time Bush family friend} and Corker’s name always just has to be among the Spineless. Both of them have political life long DEM Pandering histories. I am proud to say I never voted for either one for U.S. Senate.

The democrats have gotten the vote fraud down to a fine art. They’ve told some RINOs they’ll teach them how to do it. That’s why mccain and his bunch don’t give a damn about what you and I think.

A third party should have been started in 2007. It might be making some difference today. Staying with the republicans for the last 6 years has taken us farther and farther down the liberal hole. Now I fear it’s too late.

Coburn and Toomey are real disappointments lately, I would have never expected either of them to turn into GOP establishment hacks when they were elected to the Senate. I'm glad Coburn is retiring, but it can't come fast enough. I heard some murmurs that Toomey had gone wobbly after being elected, but now it's certainly official. He's sort of become the national version of Illinois State Senator Matt Murphy... comes to everyone's attention by running against an odious uber-RINO, then morphs into RINO-lite after a couple years and starts doing what he condemned the RINO for doing.

I'm surprised that John Thune's name isn't on the list. He usually votes for cloture to please the beltway crowd, then votes "no" on final passage (knowing it will pass easily in the Dem controlled Senate) so he can maintain his "conservative" ratings and smooch over gullible conservatives about how he "stood up for gun owners" and blah blah blah. He's been completely invisible lately.

No real suprises from anyone else. Burr isn't as conservative as we were lead to beleive, and Flake lives up to his name (though he also gets "95% conservative" ratings for some odd reason)

Citizens of the United States are longing for a strong leader to stand in opposition to the current regime and its enablers. I expect a strong leader will appear one day. I wonder if that will be a good or bad thing for us.

well the trend certainly has been *bad* for us, at least at the fed level...pelousi and bambam being the status quo for *leaders* that actually push and pass an agenda...

some states have been making headway back towards freedom, but they will most likely crumble under the weight of fedzilla and his worthless dollars before long...

Strong leader????? How about Donald Trump?
He doesn't take guff ! He barks.... OWWWWWOW

The Messiah complex is a bad sign always. A sign of desperation (recall 2011).

Go back exactly 8 years ago when GWB started his second term after a pretty healthy election win. The Dems had no single messiah type on THEIR SIDE to bring him down, but.

1) They had Speaker Pelosi who was stronger than Bohner, but who isnt?

2) They had unfolding bad events easy to point blame at HW

3) They had some unpopular positions to attack on the GOP side

4) They had GWB making some mistakes, Harriot Myers, SS reform, ,.,,,

but no one person did it

The American Conservtive Union that’s behind CPAC is an inside the beltway group that wouldn’t count a vote like this as a minus.

If the NRA gives one penny, or one minute or one word of support to Lindsey Graham between now and the end of 2014, they’ll NEVER get another penny from me. By any of those actions they will have made it clear that they have migrated into the camp of the RINO supporters.

If it isn't clear to most FReepers yet, I hope it soon is: Those who rate legislators' conservativism do not share the same definition of what it means to be a conservative as do many members of Free Republic.

FWIW

Senator Roger Wicker Today, I voted to allow debate on gun legislation. I have an A+ rating from the NRA and have consistently worked to protect Second Amendment rights.

My vote is in accord with the NRA’s position. I have never voted for gun control and will not do so.

This begins a debate to put the Senate on record about a basic constitutional freedom.
Bringing this bill to the floor gives us the opportunity to vote on measures to strengthen gun rights, such as an amendment to protect veterans from unfair restrictions when trying to purchase a firearm.

I will filibuster passage of a final bill if it contains gun restrictions or a weapons ban.Senator Roger Wicker

I think the filibuster is being passed over so that red state Dems do not get off the hook for this.

They are dammed if they vote for the bill and dammed if they don’t.

Everyone knows that Rep. Stockman will send this bill right back to the Senate because the background checks involve revenue.
