On a happy thought, flamethrowers are completely unregulated and can be built by tinkerers. Nothing gives a government thug gun grabber pause better than the chance of becoming a crispy critter. Smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em.

The Sten submachine gun was turned out by the thousands in plumber’s shops in occupied Europe. One of my neighbours, when I was a kid, had one that he used on single-shot to slaughter sheep :).

“I think 50 BMG is 12.7 x 98MM...”

Close, but no cigar. The .50 Browning round in metric is the 12.7x99 NATO. The Combloc equivalent is the 12.7x108.

They are not “weapons of war” AT ALL.

The U.S. military has not fielded a semi-auto-only rifle since WW2.

The semi-auto-only AR-15 was NEVER used by the U.S. military, only the full-auto select-fire M-16 and M-4.

The semi-auto-only civilian AR-15 “sporter” has been available for civilian purchase for a half century.

The AR-15 has NEVER been a “weapon of war.”

Government kills! Governments have killed hundreds of millions of innocent citizens. Communism, fascism, statism, totalitarianism, tyrannical dictators and rulers kill!!

Our Founders knew and understood this. They rebelled against tyrannical rule and established a system of government that recognized our individual rights come from God and set it up so that there can never be a tyrannical ruler over us. And they ensured that our God-given right to be armed in defense against any possible future tyrannical takeover attempt by wannabe dictators will be put down by we the people. From that day forward, the statists and control freaks among us (the domestic enemy within, ie, traitors) have been trying to disarm us. This will never happen.

Freedom loving Americans will never surrender their arms to tyrannical government. History shows what happens to defenseless citizens when they do.

Government kills defenseless people on a massive scale!!

We shall never surrender!!

Barack Obama is a communist and wannabe dictator!!

FUBO!!

I have a single 170 gr 30 caliber bullet mold that can be shot in 30-30, 30-06 or 308. It casts lead bullets at .311 or slightly larger depending on the alloy.

This is limited by the tendency for leading at velocities over 2000 fps.

Same approach will work on other such calibers:

“The amount of .308 bullets if phanominal since it’s the standard 30 cal bullet, 30-30, 30-06, 308, 300 win mag, 300 rum, etc”

Not a good day I guess. I wonder what the designation for the big guns on the Missouri is.

Well, yes, we are in a war with our government right now - it just isn’t ‘declared’ formally

Neither was the Cold War with the Soviet Bloc. But we all knew it was war. I agree.

Just about every rifle and pistol designed has been offered to the military. Some were accepted some were tried and rejected, some were used only for a short term.

All were then offered to the PUBLIC.

Did you know that back in the 1920s the US Springfield or Rock Island arsenal was manufacturing a version of the 1903 Springfield for public use as a hunting rifle?

They were later told to desist as they were competing with public gun makers.

From the 1700s up till 1956 the average citizen was better armed than the US army soldier.

The Constitution includes a proviso for Letters of Marque -- if a private citizen happens to have a war ship, loaded with cannon, and capable of engaging ships of the British fleet, the Constitution provides grounds for Congress to authorize use of such a private vessel in official servive to our country

Right you are and most merchant ships in those days had at least a few cannons mounted to protect against pirates.

They work well against armored vehicles too. Of course if you use one indoors you probably take out yourself too

7.62 is similar to .308, not .30-06

7.62 is the metric for .30 caliber. There are a large variety of cartridges that employ .30 caliber. The bullet weights, brass and powder loads vary. A nominal "power" comparison M1 .30 < 7.62x39 < 30-30 < 7.62x51 < .308 < 30-06. Most of those are actual .308 bullet diameters. The 7.62 soviet rounds were .311 caliber.

I reload the 100 grain Speer Plinker on 30-30, .308 and 30-06 brass for paper punching. There is no need for large powder charges or heavy bullets for targets. It wastes material and leaves a bruised shoulder. The M1 and 7.62x39 use a nominal 123 gr bullet. 30-30, .308 and 30-06 typically use 150 gr to 180 gr bullets for hunting applications.

.308 = 7.62x51

.308 Winchester is a SAAMI spec. 7.62x51 NATO is a NATO spec. The NATO spec is lower pressure. There are also significant geometric differences in the brass.

I have a 2-barreled Savage rifle with a 12-guage barrel and a .223 (5.56mm) barrel. Is it a weapon of war?

The weapons that are mentioned in the Second amendment are “weapons of war”. The purpose of the Second Amendment is to protect the population from an overbearing and overreaching government. Therefore as a protection of the rights of the people to throw off the chains of a government out of control. the weapons would be simply weapons of a civil war.

To try to ban “assault weapons” is a direct violation of the Oath of Office, in an attempt to overthrow the limitations of Government illegaly.

Ie, an invalidation of the right of a person who took the oath to make laws at best, and treason at worst. In either extreme, any laws in direct violation of the plain text meaning of the wording of the amendment are null and void. Despite any justification or reasoning to circumvent the Constitution by any black robed "Justices".

“I wonder what the designation for the big guns on the Missouri is?”

The designation of the guns on the USS MISSOURI (BB-63) is Naval Rifle, 16-inch/50 caliber, Mark VII. The Mk VII guns of the Iowa-class battleships are the deadliest, most accurate, and most sophisticated big guns of their day.

The high capacity (HC) shell weighs 2,700 pounds, is 16 inches in diameter, and stands 6 feet high. The armor piercing projectile is 1,900 pounds and the same diameter and length. Propellant is six 110-pound bags of powder (660 pounds) for the service charge and six 55-pound bags (330 pounds) for high trajectory, reverse slope firing. Range is 25 miles. A 2,700-pound HC shell is within 50 feet of the mean point of impact (MPI) on the first shot at 25 miles and carves a crater 50 feet in diameter and 20 feet deep. A nine shell salvo of 16-inch HC projectiles will kill every living thing within a one square mile area.

Since an assault rifle is a fully automatic firearm, then I would say yes, it was made for war.

M249 Light Machine Gun: Endangered species for Marines in Afghanistan

FORWARD OPERATING BASE SABIT QADAM, Afghanistan – As full integration of the Infantry Automatic Rifle into the Marine Corps’ arsenal becomes complete, the M249 Light Machine Gun, formerly the Squad Automatic Weapon, slowly fades into the history of the Corps.

The SAW has seen action since 1984 and has protected Marines since. Replaced by an automatic rifle of similar size and weight of the M16A4 service rifle already issued to rank and file Marines, the familiarity with the new weapon is almost instant.
