Yeh, I’d be more worried about it except when the NK’s blow off a long range missile they have no clue where its going to go.

Good book. David and a couple other folks are currently trying to get it made into a major motion picture. Official trailer should be out soon.”

Ditto this! I read this book when it was just a free series of posts on a forum. It is EXCELLENT. I have read and enjoyed it three times, and am due for another re-read.

You make a good point.

However, My generation lived with the “threat” and we drilled in school.
(not happening now)
EMP is a real threat;

Although it would effect all electronic -components by way of high energy impulse, the REAL damage would be the loss of infrastructure (any devices dependent on low voltage components: cell phones, newer autos, computers, etc).
Just imagine if there was NO electric power. for most of US. Imagine the chaos!!!

Well, the good news, the military has been shielding their equipment for decades. AND your most beloved government would not cease to function..(darn!!!) I bet DC has contingency plans, (which include their families.....The rest of us??? (ha!!!)

Sorry people for the sarcasm, it comes with living long enough to see the “rot”
forgive me.

If the Chinese can figure out how to make fireworks explode into defined shapes, surely we can shape an EMP blast...

;)

Perhaps, but I doubt that ship was deployed on the opposite side of the planet from where the satellite was re-entering the atmosphere.

More than half the photos posted on this thread fit this bill.

I can't believe we have so many stupid people on FR who are underestimating N. Korea.

I might be remembering wrong, but there was something rumored called Operation Garden Plot or something like that. I don’t know if it was ever confirmed, but rumor had it that the plan is to make Americans work in the fields — with handtools — at gunpoint. Those rumors were back in the Bush years.

As for your sarcasm... it’s warranted. That is, unless the Lord has another plan. (And I think He does.)

Don’t give up hope.

Yes, I Know!!! that is the concern!!!
Like ancient Israel, we have abandoned our God!! and look what happened to them!!

But with Hope, Maybe He will save a remnant.

Actually, the plan that I am thinking the Lord has isn’t for judgment... although this nation richly deserves it. I think we are close to a reformation. Yes, the society is charging ahead into rebellion. But His people are more aware than ever that something is wrong. There is a strong remnant who are calling out for Him. I believe we are on the edge of the greatest turn-around in American history, far greater than what are called the First and Second Great Awakenings. But it will not come from the pastors of the churches. It will start with the young, meeting in small groups and in houses, and it will be — for the most part — condemned by the pastors.

The key to the next decade is going to be the word “small” — small groups of believers, small business, niche churches, niche businesses.

I think everything is going to turn out all right. Great, in fact. But we need to pray that the Lord does not withhold His hand of protection, and that He bears with us until we can rid our land of abortion and other sins which have devastated us.

An EMP would be catastrophic! I do not think that is part of the Lord’s plan. But if His people do not pray... I don’t know. It could happen.

Don’t despair. There is a remnant, and they are praying.

Wow. Sounds like we’re dead meat.

Congress needs to ask what is being done to protect that hole in our southern radar coverage.

And they need to ask Obama EXACTLY what he meant by “more flexibility” when he told Medvedev he’d have more flexibility after the election. Sounds like the package that could hit us at any minute and send us back to the dark ages was launched about 3 weeks after Obama’s 2nd inauguration.

It’s not the first time that I said this, but EMP them first.

Would they even notice?

The Heritage Foundation, sometimes cited by Rush Limbaugh on his program, designated National EMP Recognition Day in an effort to focus the public’s attention on this issue.

I, for one, am grateful for news agencies like WND.com that give air time to this issue. I cannot fault WND for publishing stories that many mainstream news outlets ignore. I am not saying that all who dislike WND.com here hold to this opinion, but I have noticed that many who slam WND.com take issue with their conservative stand on homosexuality. They would like nothing better than to destroy the dissenting opinions expressed at that site.

N Korea is already third-world. An EMP wouldn’t do much. A conventional nuke, if any, would be called for.

The trouble, though, is that Iran probably has a package or 2 up there already also, ready to fire at any time. And Ahmadinejad is saying the US will be destroyed in the next year or 2 (can’t remember which).

We have to close up that gap in our radar defense if we have any hope of continued existence. But then, do we have anything that would be able to catch a nuke headed toward us even if we detected it in time?

The Super EMP would destroy even the best-protected electronics, the article said. 200 million expected to die within 2 years of an attack. They can easily put an EMP in the middle of the US - right where I’m at - and it would affect the entire country.

Time to get my daughter a bike, I think, if she’s gonna make it home if/when this thing hits.

It would be a whole lot of death on a scale not seen before and you can be sure no one is going to come to our aid; they won’t be able to. From the EMP moment on the global economy simply vanishes. An EMP on the U.S. literally erases most of the world’s wealth. We won’t be the only ones going down.

Read the article posted earlier in the thread. It was a familysecuritymatters page, and the article was written by a guy who had been on Clinton’s North Korea advisory committee. What he’s saying is that both Iran and North Korea have each more than likely already put 2 super EMP’s into orbit at the precise altitude needed for an EMP attack, ready to be detonated whenever and wherever they decide. Most of our radar is not facing south and there is a gap in the coverage so that if these nukes were repositioned and aimed at that big gaping hole in our radar coverage, the first anybody would know about anything happening would be the effects of the EMP. It would hit the center of the country and within a couple years would kill 200 million Americans.
