China has placed military forces on heightened alert in the northeastern part of the country as tensions mount on the Korean peninsula following recent threats by Pyongyang to attack, U.S. officials said.

Reports from the region reveal the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) recently increased its military posture in response to the heightened tensions, specifically North Korea's declaration of a "state of war" and threats to conduct missile attacks against the United States and South Korea.

Anything in the news about Iran’s nuke pursuit recently? Or Assad’s chemical weapons?

No, but there's a lot in the news about guys marrying guys and gals marrying gals, and 11 million new Democrat voters from Mexico.

NK is the tip if the spear. They have been China’s puppet for many years.

In 1950 the Chinese saved NK’s @$$; why would they want to do it again?

I was telling my family yesterday that we’ll know when the shiite is going down in NoKo when China and the Soviets start to pull their people out or make moves to protect themselves. Now we just have to watch all the one-way trips out of NoKo paid for by Putin Express and we have our answer. The Chicoms don’t want the flood of refugees and will seal the border to force everyone south. Same with the Soviets but their border isn’t anything but marshlands.

I was 6 but remember my uncle coming to the house in his uniform.

In Sunday school when I was 8 or 9 they always prayed for "our boys in Korea". My dad was one of them, so I couldn't understand calling them boys.

Whose side is China on in this mess?

I love joke questions!

Is buying trillions in Communist Chinese products while being trillions in debt to Red China good for us?

BEWAHAHAHAHAHA

Government does this, use the terms boys, to suggest or imply they are all of our children...How about “girls”?

Next war, draft women since they demand equality, but FIRST lets demand all the super wealthy, the Senators and Congress people have their kids join up FIRST to serve on the front lines, as an honorable example of course...

Why do I get the feeling this N.Korea business is the distraction for something bigger?

It is a distraction. While your attention is on NK, Obama and the banksters will be emptying your bank accounts. The dollar will be destroyed. Meanwhile, the press weenies will keep singing the guns, gays and immigration reform tune.

Something to remember...the invasion of Poland was in “response” to staged attack on a German border post by Polish troops or rather by German agents dressed in Polish uniforms. One does have to wonder if we’ll find some “South Korean” soldiers captured carrying out attacks on the wrong side of the DMZ as a provocation for war.

Years from now, we'll learn that N. Korea was a DISTRACTION to take our eyes of Iran, while they assembled their bomb.

Kinda like how the Berlin Crisis was a distraction meant to keep America's eyes busy.

North Korea and Iran are colluding together to do what they can to divide America's attention.

Great time, too, now that we no longer can fight two simultaneous wars on two fronts. Then we went to a 1 1/2 front war, now we're down to Obama offering to personally meet and overwhelm with his (lack of) personal charisma.

This world is doomed. Fortunately, we know how it all turns out, in the end.

Without nukes, they pretty much beat the south the first time before we stepped in.

You know how the Union had the lion's share of industry and then some prior to the start of the Civil War? The Japanese who ran Korea for 50 years after annexing it in 1895 put most of Korea's industry in the north. The North was also handed a bunch of Soviet surplus equipment from WWII, whereas the South did not even have artillery - the State Department was worried (probably correctly) that any heavy weaponry would be used to invade the North, and made sure that the South was armed mainly with light weaponry, meaning they had no howitzers, tanks or aircraft. Today, the tables are turned - South Korea is a developed country on par with much of the West, whereas North Korea is economically worse off than most African countries. In terms of total national output (GDP), South Korea's number is almost 100x that of North Korea. This is why it's pretty clear that North Korea does not have what it takes to overrun the South.

North Korea is one of the Soviet Union's old orphan dogs - though China has some relationship and influence over them,. . .

Yes, but. The June 1950 NK invasion of SK involved roughly 30,000 North Koreans who were war-seasoned veterans of Mao's earlier battles with the Japanese and then with Chang's forces who were driven to Taiwan. The NKs who invaded SK had been armed and given strategic/tactical "advice" by Russian "advisers."

The Chinese moved across the Yalu from China -- after MacArthur's successful Inchon invasion, his subsequent retaking of Seoul and successes in driving the NKs back across the DMZ and thence to the Chinese border with NK. A purpose was to force MacArthur's allied forces back south. Another purpose may well have been to keep masses of NKs from moving into China. China sent approximately 300,000 Chinese PLA troops; Stalin had left the ball in China's court.

The ROK forces had been very ill equipped and trained because of fears that otherwise President Rhee would send them north to deal with the NKs. At least during the first phases of the conflict, they were more of a hindrance than an advantage.

Since then, China has been NK's biggest booster, second only to Russia.

North Korea can not defeat South Korea or Japan—just beat them up and damaged their infrastructure so it will take a dozen years to re-build. That is all China Needs.
