Today Meghan McCain and Margaret Hoover paired up to pen an op-ed for USA Today, calling on conservatives to support marriage equality.
In the article, McCain and Hoover outline the inevitable demise of anti-LGBT organizations and leadership, as country continues to shift support toward marriage equality.
Marriage is marriage, whether a person is straight or gay.Indeed marriage equality is largely becoming a bipartisan momentum across the country.Marriage also promotes outcomes that we as conservatives should support: stable homes, with committed couples who take care of themselves without government intrusion. We know the benefits to society from healthy marriages, and we celebrate them. Our fellow Republicans should be strengthening this great institution--not stifling it with roadblocks.
A record number of Americans--58 percent--support marriage equality. Just last week Ohio Republican Rob Portman reversed his own position to now support marriage equality legislation. And over 100 Republicans filed an amicus brief calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Californias Proposition 8....

Where can I and my family go hide? I don’t want to live in an overwhelmingly immoral place any more.
I’m discouraged.
Meghan McCain and Margaret Hoover are not conservatives.

All I keep reading is that the tide of public opinion has moved in favor of “gay marriage”. But if that is true, then why has it failed in nearly every referendum put to the voters in over thirty states? Why is it that the states that allow it only did so because it was imposed upon them by judicial fiat or by a close legislative vote?
Why is it that the only polls that matter — those made in ballots cast by the voting public — are ignored in these stories?
The media in this country is absolutely evil.

Based on the last election, the majority support repealing the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Should the GOP support that too?
I want gays to pledge they will not marry until the law supports my right, as a man, to bear children.
You lie!

If fruitcakes are allowed to marry, its the end of America as we know it..I dont know when our country officially went to hell but its happening quicker than I ever imagined
A somewhat more reasoned look at this issue and the sox-called “100 Republicans” who filed an amicus brief can be found here:

Has there ever been another case where the meaning of a word was changed to make a group of people feel better about themselves? The word ‘marriage’ has meant the ‘union of a man and a woman’ for centuries. There is no good reason for this. And I suspect gays/lesbians will not feel better about themselves anyway.
Spiritual sense has all gone jabberwocky here. And it was invited, it didn’t force itself on America.
