The Jordanian government hates the Palestinian refugees, they refuse to assimilate and the PLO tried to run its own mini-state in the 60s. King Hussein actually started slaughtering them until they agreed to move their headquarters to Lebanon to stop the reprisals for Black September.

Sure Abdullah married a Palestinian, but that doesn’t make him not loathe the unenviable position of having anywhere from 30-60% of the population a powder-keg ready to explode over Israel.
