Councilman Kwame Kenyatta and a packed room of Detroiters warned today of an impending revolt against state intervention, urging residents to stock up on canned food and supplies.
Even the Bloods in the hood fight for their territory, Kenyatta said during a 20-minute monologue on the civil rights struggle at todays city council meeting. You are going to have to drag me out of here for me to leave.
Kenyatta cited Frederick Douglass, a former slave who became an intellectual and civil rights icon, because of his position that black people must sacrifice their lives, if necessary, to win freedom and the right to vote. Many in the audience stood up and applauded.
One by one, Detroiters pledged to take to the streets once Gov. Rick Snyder appoints an emergency manager, which is expected Thursday or Friday. Others threatened to block the entrance of city hall.
Save up and purchase food, canned goods and water because you are going to see a new civil rights movement, pledged Marie Thornton, a former Detroit Public Schools Board member. I wont give up my right to vote. We are going to shut down freeways and we are going to disrupt the economic system.
Added Valerie Glenn, a community activist: Make sure you are prepared and you will survive.
Protests so far have been nonviolent. Demonstrators slowed traffic to a few miles per hour on I-75 and I-94 in the past week. But thats mild for whats to come, some warned.
What about black Detroiters who arent prepared to fight?
We have fought for everything we have; how do you sit on the sidelines? Kenyatta asked.
Well, alright. Thanks.
Who's on first again?
During the 67 riots, local gas stations were required to close at 6 pm so as to cut down on the amount of firebombing and Molotov cocktail manufacturing that was occuring all over town. My next door neighbor sat on the front porch with his M-16. Looks like a wonderful summer heading to the Detroit area this year.
I can’t stand those Muslim names they adopt. So phoney and lame
They aren't trying to accomplish anything - they just see a chance to riot and go lawless for a while with little to no penalties.
The EM is taking away your right to vote ?
Can't fix stupid...
I don’t like playing the race game but I think you have to have black conservatives step up to help in the beginning. The city needs a moral and societal revitalization and the black conservatives are a great place to start.
I know Ben Carson has a speaking event coming up in Detroit and that is the direction we should all support.
Well, at least there’s one group of preppers now, that the media and government won’t disparage.
Yep, he knows the paper trail leads to him and the rest of the cronies, all Democrats. So with his back to the wall he might as well burn the rest of Detroit down.
I pray not a single black follows him. Let this mark the end of Democrats elected in Detroit. There isn’t much lower for them to stoop.
-—— the civil rights struggle ——
A better choice of words would be “urban feral black struggle for continuation of the tyrannical failure”
Time for all to observe the “Never Go South of Birch Run” rule.
If you think it will be violent in Detroit...wait until the Zimmerman trial and Z is exonerated...
I just did. Thanks. :)
Detroit has an economic system?
“Kenyatta cited Frederick Douglass, a former slave who became an intellectual and civil rights icon, because of his position that black people must sacrifice their lives, if necessary, to win freedom and the right to vote. Many in the audience stood up and applauded.”
You are no longer free when you DEPEND on the federal government for your food, shelter and phones. You are no longer free when you DEPEND on the state for more food, more housing, or to fund schools that don’t even teach you how to read (lest you would be “acting white.”) You are no longer free when you DEPEND on your neighboring counties to fund your failing bus system, your african museum, your zoo and your economic activity.
You are no longer free when you DEPEND on others to provide ALL of your needs AND desires, so you have nothing to fight for. When you fight for freedom, you also are fighting for RESPONSIBILITY!
I suspect that the Detroit administration has been greasing a few palms here and there with city money, a practice which they fear may come to an end.
Since they’re now preppers, we know the FedGov will watch their activities closely.
Riiiiiiight.
Two words that are guaranteed to cause a Detroit politician to have an involuntary bowel movement (at least once he finds a dictionary): forensic accountant.
they want to squat, and then extort money from the rest of the country. (then petition the UN if the US does not pay them)
I worked in detroit for 11 years, and believe me, there’s virtually nobody there that wants to change anything. The only people left are the drug traffickers, the mugabe wannabe’s, the companies that have grandfathered in factories that can’t relocate, and illegal MS13 type mexicans slowly taking over the city. When you have neighborhoods that even the police won’t venture into, you know it’s bad.
