Wearing bulletproof vests and carrying 40-caliber Glock pistols, nine California Justice Department agents assembled outside a ranch-style house in a suburb east of Los Angeles. They were looking for a gun owner whod recently spent two days in a mental hospital.
They knocked on the door and asked to come in. About 45 minutes later, they came away peacefully with three firearms.
California is the only state that tracks and disarms people with legally registered guns who have lost the right to own them, according to Attorney General Kamala Harris. Almost 20,000 gun owners in the state are prohibited from possessing firearms, including convicted felons, those under a domestic violence restraining order or deemed mentally unstable.
What do we do about the guns that are already in the hands of persons who, by law, are considered too dangerous to possess them? Harris said in a letter to Vice President Joe Biden after a Connecticut school shooting in December left 26 dead. She recommended that Biden, heading a White House review of gun policy, consider California as a national model.
As many as 200,000 people nationwide may no longer be qualified to own firearms, according to Garen Wintemute, director of the Violence Prevention Research Program at the University of California, Davis. Other states may lack confiscation programs because they dont track purchases as closely as California, which requires most weapons sales go through a licensed dealer and be reported.
Agreed.
At minimum, victims of such abuse should collect the names of all involved in such actions and anonymously publish those names on sites calculated to inflame interested parties.
The only way that can happen is when government ignores the Constitution.
We are there my FRiend.
Open defiance of the Chain our Founders Forged on our Government. The Federal Courts will not enforce the Law, except where it is in the interest of the Obozo Administration.
We are there.
I would really like to know if a competency hearing is part of the process or if someone has to request/demand one in order for one to happen. Wondering if the person has to actually be legally declared mentally incompetent in this process or if just saying the wrong thing or seeking mental help is enough on its own.
It’s “commonsense gun regulations” (gag). I hope NRA is already on it.

They own the news and only tell you what they want you to hear.
Freedom of the Press?? hee hee hee
Kalifornia is really effed and you know the old saying; as goes Kalifornia..... Will the cops ever realize that it is those who are doing the confiscating under the color of authority that are breaking the law??
They don’t care. They are told they are doing their jobs.
Remember the Nuremberg Defence? “I was Just Following Orders.”
That is what the good little Nazi’s said in their defense.
The worst of them hanged or were shot.
“LOL...how naive....they break your door down, shoot your dog, violate you and your family in every way imaginable, then you have to spend more money than you have to get “justice”
We don’t need no steenkin warrant serf..... “
Except that they are procedurally barred specifically from entering the home. It’s voluntary surrender, unless they catch you with them in your possession.
Who in their right mind would carry out a raid with just pistols?
Don't forget, Kalifornians are flooding into Texas just like they did to Colorado. The infestation is ruining Colorado.
“Common sense” and “government regulations” don’t belong in the same sentence unless the word ‘antithetical’ is also a part of it. ;-)
I am sure they expected no resistance.
But remember, the press thinks everything is a Glock, AK or an AR.
I hesitate to be contrary but Texas isn’t immune either.
Seems there was a little incident in Waco where a number of people were murdered and any survivor was ultimately silenced through prosecution with only the authorized version of the story permitted to be heard. The winner writes the history.
To be completely fair, I’m not sure any of us are safe from similar treatment.
Guns of Law-Abiding Husband Confiscated After Wifes Single Voluntary Mental Health Visit
Says they wont' 'restore' her and her husband's gun rights until they do an investigation and she appears before a judge to determine her competency. I think she's on good ground to file a lawsuit. Hopefully the judge will slap those officials around pretty good. Unless he's a commie too.
So that means they go to homes with law abiding citizens, not the felons.
Thanks for the link.
So she gave them permission to enter her home at **8 pm** — what on earth possessed her to invite them in for tea and crumpets??? Who would even opens the door at that time... where was her husband? (As an aside, it crossed my mind that vampires cannot enter a home without an invitation, either.)
I remember all too well. And there is some validity to what you say. But I still know public officials who are contrary to that.
I think the State of Texas takes a very different view of Federal Involvement after Waco and Ruby Ridge.
The Justice Department and the BATF both hid the crimes but the public knows they took place.
There have been other smaller insane incidents.
We must not only defeat this enemy of the nation but we must put the criminals behind them in jail. From the top to the bottom.
Real criminals shoot back at cops. Most law-abiding citizens don't. Cops like to go home each night after their shift.
When the law-abiding finally become de facto 'criminals' because they refuse to obey tyrannical gun laws, then cops will stop focusing on them too.
Too messy.
Just fire in the pyrotechnic CS grenades until the house is aflame, then wait for the ashes to cool down and rake out the melted guns.
From Waco to Big Bear Lake, it’s proven effective.
