LAKELAND | Former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin was fired up about God and country when she spoke Friday at Southeastern University in Lakeland. And she was dressed for the part.
The 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate visited the Sunshine State at the request of the organizers of the school's seventh annual leadership forum. She was quite a presence on the stage, in a lipstick-red suit and fierce high heels.
Her passionate talk was peppered with such vibrant cries as "Cling to your God, your guns, your Constitution!" and pleas for the next generation to change the country's moral fiber. "That will make our foundation crumble if we choose to ignore it," she said.
Not one to tiptoe around sensitive topics, Palin got right to the point on reasons she said the country is in crisis.
"Today, look around, and don't you wonder sometimes if, as a nation, we have forgotten God altogether? This is a crucial question," she said.
Palin said the school asked her to talk about hope and resilience. She said she would but "not that Washington, D.C., ‘hopey-changey' blah, blah, blah stuff, but real hope."
Mostly, the 49-year-old hammered such topics as the corruption of Washington, D.C. — "It's a hotbed of cronyism" — and federal spending — "The federal government is bloated, corrupt and out-of-control."(continued)

I couldn't agree more. On that day (I believe it was October 5th, 2012), all hope for a patriotic reformation in this country was extinguished in my household. My wife literally broke down in tears at the news, and was in a 'mood' that lasted for days, afterward.
I honestly don't know whether Sarah ever fully appreciated the tremendous blow her decision was to tens of millions of Americans. It was as though the life suddenly went out of our side, and a sort of frantic anxiety took its place.
I'm certain that they broke out the best champagne in the White House that evening. You could actually feel the collective sigh of relief on the left, and the RINO right.
That is the only explanation that withstands the test of logic.
I've felt for a long time now, that Palin may likely serve in a similar capacity as Jefferson Davis, except this time, the outcome of the war will be different.
Call it a 'vision', or intuition, but I began visualizing that scenario during last year's primary race.
Enough of the cheerleader yells. What is Palin's position of restoring employment, ending being world policeman and nation builder, restoring democracy from Supreme Court usurpation.
Read her two books, and review her many, many public speeches. It's all there.

Agree. We are not like other nations.
America will not go quietly into that good night.
They know this. It's why they've worked feverishly to get as many non-Americans into this country as possible.
I say thank God for this brave woman. She is unashamed to show her patriotism and love for country even after paying a far greater price than most of us could bear.
And though I know not what the future holds for her or our nation I pray that we have not heard the last of Sarah Palin!
What woman in her right mind wouldn't want to look that good at 49. Hillary never looked that good. I believe Palin was wearing a red jacket with a black skirt, not a red suit. But what doI know, I'm just a man.
