The war of words between conservatives and former Bush advisor Karl Rove has gone nuclear, this time over Rove's claim that he worked for Ronald Reagan's 1980 campaign and on a Reagan advisory board.
The bottom line: While Rove told The O'Reilly Factor Thursday that he worked for the Gipper, Reagan's acclaimed biographer Craig Shirley says there's no evidence to back Rove up.
Worse: In an email Shirley is sending to conservative leaders, he reveals that Rove backed former President Ford in 1976 and in 1980 worked for former Texas governor Clements who didn't back Reagan until after he was nominated.
Shirley penned the book about Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign, Rendezvous with Destiny, and today said he confirmed his research about Rove with several former Reagan campaign aides...

But I am astute enough to recognize
Rove is not the real enemy. The real enemies are Obama-Reid-Pelosi-Clintons.
No the real enemies are the back stabbing RINOs that run interference for the marxists. They are on the same team.
Who gives a damn anyway?
;-)
Right you are, sir.
Additionally, after watching the immunity that the RINO's and GOP-E had within the party for the next three years, Sarah knew she could not win 2012 because the RINO GOP-E traitors would sabotage her election.
Rove and the RINO GOP-E got the unconservative conservative Romney they wanted, and America got Obama.
Rove says such queer things.
If you bother to read all my posts on this thread it will be clear to you I never sent a dime to Rove or his PAC. So how am I helping Rove, GOPe or the RINOs?
...there really is no purpose to talking sense on an issue like Karl Rove or Ann Coulter...the same people giving you grief now are those who a few short years ago idolized both those individuals...sense means nothing to those who have discovered a new meme, that of some fictitious candidates possessed of a nonextant political purity...all that matters is making sure you are on the right side of that meme...
Karl Rove was the architect of all that while the Bushes occupied the building he constructed. Thank you for astutely determining that the real enemy was the honest barbarian who entered the city and slaughtered its citizens, and not the dishonest collaborator who opened the city gate for them.
...amusing post...thanks for the laugh...
RINOS have been “crossing the aisle” for decades to help support the liberal agenda. They never once expected or demanded that the libs cross over to the right side to promote a conservative agenda. Rove and the people he supported were kind of the last straw. He wanted Romney so bad he was drooling. I don’t see why anyone thinks he has any credibility in the ability to be able to pick winning candidates. It’s a joke.
That’s the way I saw it happen also.
Rove believes in the tactic of “Back stabbin’ and ambushin”!
As impressive as his integrity may be, it pales in comparison to his longevity!!!!
I dont see why anyone thinks he has any credibility in the ability to be able to pick winning candidates. Its a joke.
...gee, I don’t know...did Bush win two elections or not...

Unfortunately, we still have too many PhonyCon Liberals who will suck up to Rove....the same ones that still get their news from Fox and think Sean Hannity is conservative.
Anyone familiar with the 1980 campaign and 2 Reagan terms knows that Bush people and Reagan people kept their distance for the most part. Doubt that Bush-Whacker Rove would have been let near any Reagan campaign planning and strategy
Reading Rove’s columns (which is rare for me) what I gather is that he is trying to support the candidates with best chance to win. Obviously he is not always right. Example: his support of Romney.
But again my main point is not about Rove being for or against conservatives. He has spent money from his PAC for both, tea part types and RINO’s. Rove spent $5 million+ for Mourdock’s senate campaign for example. My main point is we should focus our energy on fighting the democrats. There is nothing realistically we can do to stop Rove from supporting his choice candidates. This is still a free country.
Thank you very much for a rational & logical post.
Please explain why Rove bothered to spend $5+ Million for Mr Mourdock’s senate campaign. I consider Mourdock to be a conservative.
In what context did Rove criticize gov. Palin? Was it during her campaign as VP with McCain? She has not run for any other office since that 2008 run, so any of his criticism of her is irrelevant.
I don’t know, I believe he is paving the way for another Bush.
