Sen. Charles Schumer says retailers that sell assault weapons should stop offering them for purchase while Congress discusses gun regulation legislation.
Schumer on Sunday released a letter he sent to major retailers asking for a voluntary moratorium.
The New York Democrat says consumer demand for guns has gone up in the weeks since the December mass shooting in Newtown, Conn....

Gun control has done zero for New York City. I wish these liberals would stop exporting bad ideas. We need guns to protect ourselves from the nuts, druggies, and criminals. Why can’t these politicians figure that out? It’s obvious. We don’t have the armed security details. We have to fend for ourselves.
Sounds to me like the democrats are casting around for a means of restricting guns that looks like they didn’t do it.

The Army has them, I’m told, but I’ve never seen one in the US.
"2C:39-1y."Large capacity ammunition magazine" means a box, drum, tube or other container which is capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition to be fed continuously and directly therefrom into a semi-automatic firearm.
The key though, is "semi automatic". If it was a lever action or bolt action rifle, it could hold >100 rounds and still would be legal. Oh, and just to make it interesting "NJS 2C:39-1w(3) "Assault Weapon" means a semi-automatic shotgun with either a magazine capacity exceeding six rounds, a pistol grip, or a folding stock."
So, depending, the NJ magazine limit can be 6 rounds, 15 rounds, or no limit at all. You almost need a law degree to own a gun in New Jersey!

If that's the case what does the Army do to defend themselves when they are attacked? There must be a defense unit that is trained specifically in the use of defense weapons.
My local gun store owner tells me that all the warehouses have stopped shipping until they see what will happen. That makes no sense when there is massive profit to be made unless someone is pressuring them.
