Prayer breakfast calls on president to act 'for the people'
Barack Obama is an appointed minister of God to do what is good, according to the prayer of Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell at the Commonwealth Prayer Breakfast held at the Richmond, Va., convention center.
The annual breakfast yesterday drew more than 1,000 people, including many of the states leaders. In addition to McDonnell, others offering prayers included Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, House Speaker William Howell and state Democrat Chairwoman Charniele Herring.
McDonnell asked, during his prayer for Obama, that God give him the wisdom of Solomon.
The opening prayer was delivered by the mayor of Richmond, Dwight C. Jones, a Democrat. Jones, an African-American, sat next to Cuccinelli, a tea party favorite who currently is running for governor to replace McDonnell.
All those at the head table sat quietly as McDonnell prayed for Obama and his family. McDonnell prayed for Obamas wife Michelle and his two girls to have normalcy. For Obamas duties of office, the governor prayed that he would get done what is right and just for the people.
Speaking of all elected officials in the nation including himself, the governor asked God that all do what is right in the eyes of God.
It is not the first time McDonnell has advocated prayer for Obama.
Early in 2012, he told a Boy Scout troop to pray for Mr. Obama, because hes got a lot of hard decisions to make.
That request came as the troop was on a tour of the

This is a serious WTF comment from McDonnell. Does he like to drink?
Luckily for you this thread is in the news forum. If you post a mind-reading statement like this on the Religion Forum you will rightly be slapped down HARD
You have a standing invitation to North Florida any time you care to step away from the keyboard and engage in hand to hand debate. I reserve the right to put the results on YouTube and post it here on this forum.
Jesus didn’t write the words in Red. They were written by others.
Do you prefer to pray to Luke, Mark, Matthew or John?
I repeat:
The ONLY reason you dismiss the words of Paul is that they don’t say what you want to hear. Do you honestly think God was in heaven in November saying “How did he get re-elected? Wow, I didn’t see that coming?” ?
Freeper, please.
The Catholic prayer to St. Michael has similar themes.
Right now you’re starting to make me doubt either your intellect or your sobriety. The point I posed is very simple. The point has been put to you four times. Right now everybody on the internet understands it and has moved on while you’re doing an impression of Rain Man.
Let me walk you through it step by step.
In post #33 you wrote:
“Heres what God said: the authorities that exist are ordained by God.”
With me so far?
You were quoting Paul’s letter to the Romans.
Paul wrote the letter. God didn’t write the letter.
God didn’t tell us He ordained the authorities. Paul told the Romans God ordained the authorities.
In many Bibles, when God actually says something, it’s usually highlighted in red letters.
God was not speaking through Paul. Paul was speaking for God.
Paul was a man. Paul wasn’t God. If Jesus had appeared before Paul and said “The authorities are ordained by Me”, it would be highlighted in many Bibles in red letters because it WOULD be God speaking. Instead, it is an apostle giving his opinion, and thus the letters are all in black.
God didn’t say it. Paul did. That’s all. Fini. Done.
Paul wrote those words.
Mark, John, Matthew and Luke wrote the words that Jesus said.
If you don’t believe Paul, why do you believe the 4 other writers?
If you wind up on a thread marked Religion and make the kind of comments you made, you will be called down. Keep it up and you WILL be banned. Don't say I didn't give you fair warning.
If you give it a litte thought, you’ll discover blustering like a bad*ss who’s got a pair on the internet impresses no one, and belittles you. I however, talk to people on the internet in the same way I talk to them face to face. You should think about giving that a try.
I don’t think you’ve got any more power to ban people here on the board, than you do to bring that attitude to people face-to-face in real life. Because you’re not quite the same person out-of-doors as you are when you’re on the internet with a keyboard. Are you?
