A spokesman for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) pushed back Tuesday afternoon against the suggestion that by coming out against the fiscal cliff deal passed by the Senate, the congressman was undercutting House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

These constant patches to Medicare are another problem. What the "doc fix" deals do is basically overturn previous attempts at deficit reduction by reducing payments to health care providers. So when in the next so-called "grand bargain", we should be forewarned that future Medicare savings through such gimmicks will never be realized, because all the politicians know that a lot of doctors will drop out of the system.
There needs to be real concessions on entitlements now in exchange for delaying the sequesters - chained CPI would be the least they can do.
Why?
Cantor got what he wanted.
Boehner agreed to a two step approach.
First? They find out where the Republican Conference is
Yap, let us clean out ALL the republicans. Unfortunately the problem is we will end up with all democrap replacements.
If we keep nominating candidates such as the following stalwarts, we might get there sooner than later...
Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donell, George Allen, Joe Miller, Ken Buck, Doug Hoffman, etc. etc. etc. Every one was replaced by a democrap.
The 2014 Tax Revolt begins now...
cantor is a political whore and a founding member of the progressive elite.

The end of this Kabuki Dance is near. They all are playing their parts. (others will be coming)
After plan B died I had no doubt that it would end this way and I said so.
At midnight last night anything they passed was most certainly a tax cut lowering current tax rates. Time to move on from this ‘make believe’ game.

This deal protects younger Americans with jobs and screws older Americans who have been saving their entire lives for retirement and have large accumulated and unrealized capital gains. A whole lifetime of financial planning...pfft!! Many people are going to lose a couple hundred thou with the Obamacare tax on cap gains and the tax “deal” increase of cap gains rate by 5 points.
This “deal” does not hit everybody equally. It disproportionately hits frugal seniors who don’t have pensions, who saved for their future, and are depending on their cap gains. But if you were smart enough to work for a government and have a cushy pension, you won’t be affected.
The moral of the story? If you try to be independent, count on the government to change the rules when you are down to the 5 yard line after a life-long drive downfield.
You say Obama won, but he’s not the only one. I don’t see Democrats running the house. Why does he get to hold anything hostage? Why doesn’t anyone pressure him to cave? Oh yeah, because everything’s always Republicans’ fault. Obama could sleep his way to victory. Also, I don’t think Republicans get it, even though we pretend they are the conservative party because they are only two parties and it’s definitely not the other one.
I say force Obama to cave or call his bluff and go off the “cliff,” even if it is a tax hike, which it is. There is absolutely no reason to compromise. At least sequestration actually cuts something, though probably not as much as advertised. The resulting taxes you can blame on Obama, plus the stupid Bush the Younger Congress that couldn’t pass a bill that didn’t sunset, as well as the idiots who passed sequestration in the first place. It was so obviously a giant trap for the Stupid Party to stumble into.
BS. Obama did win, but that’s beside the point. Democrats didn’t win the house, which is why we’re having this conversation. There may be a reason for Pubs to cave, but Obama winning isn’t one of them.
Cantor voted NO..so this Washington Compost piece is designed to keep the lily livered weak kneed crybaby Boehner as the Speaker. The Dems have a fear of Cantor, so the story goes. Breitbart is reporting now that that there are enough Republicans in the House who want to unseat Boehner Thursday - IF they can find someone to coalesce around.
” - - - Republicans in the House who want to unseat Boehner Thursday - IF they can find someone to coalesce around.”
(Tx, R) Jeb Hensarling would do a great job as Speaker.
The big mistake was made 10 years ago when the Republicans settled for a “sunset” provision on the Bush tax cuts. Frankly, I think it’s a minor miracle that NOW most of those tax cuts are permanent. The highest 2% of earners’ taxes are simply back up to where they were 10 years ago. I don’t like it, but here we are.
The thing is, there are a lot of very pissed off Republicans right now, and revenge is a dish best served cold. I have a feeling the debt ceiling debate will be quite raucous, to say the least. Additionally, although the tax rates for most American taxpayers are now “permanent”, the automatic sequestration cuts are still scheduled to happen - - they were merely put off for two months. It is entirely possible that the Republicans will let them happen.
If that comes to pass, then the end result of everything will be that the Bush tax cuts are permanent for all but the top 2% of earners, but the massive spending cuts will still take place. The African communist couldn’t possibly be happy with that outcome.
I really look forward to the sneer getting smacked off that scumbag Ubanga’s face.

I don’t believe my post advocated cleaning out ALL the Republicans, though that is an interesting thought. I advocated sending the Weeper, Cantor, and McCarthy to the back benches.
To the list of nominees that you don’t care for, let me respond by stating that I don’t believe the following Republican nominees, stalwart squishes all and not generally accused of being right wing bomb throwers, didn’t seem to fare too well:
Mitt Romney, Linda McMahon, Connie Mack, Linda Lingle, Scott Brown, Heather Wilson, Tommy Thompson, Carly Fiorina, Chris Shays, etc., etc., etc.
But if you think the Republicans voting in favor of the Obummer/McConnell “fiscal cliff” deal helped to put our financial house in order by doing so, far be it from me to try to disabuse you of that notion.
I agree that the debt ceiling is the real battle.
The part I did like about the cliff is that everbody
got hit, but at the expense of the economy.
If get no massive spending cuts, there should be
no rise in debt ceiling. Period.
-or else shut down the federal goverment
that is our real power

You will not find a single post from me where I have advocated stalwart squishes RINO’s as my preferred candidates. So, please do not post as my agenda which is NOT mine.
My most important criteria for any candidate is, WHAT ARE THE CHANCES he/she can defeat their democrap opponent. If that meme fails, I can not support that candidate regardless of how pure they are. If the candidate gives me feeling of a election win, next question I ask is how conservative is their agenda. Only if affirmative then they have a chance of getting my support.
Based on my criteria, I do not like Jindal for 2016. I do not think he can win. I do not like Palin for the same reason. And I love both of above two because they are splendidly intelligent and much better than any RINO out there.
I am favoring Rubio, Walker or Mcdonnell in 2016 unless something negative pops up before the nomination. They have proved to me they are winners.
Finally, I have never failed to vote for any repub over a democrap even if I have to to drink two double scotches before pulling the lever, with one exception,,,I favored JFK over Nixon because JFK gave us the first tax cut during my lifetime and that helped me find a job just coming out of college.
