Is it possible to have a principled opposition to raising tax rates to avoid the fiscal cliff? It seems that Joe Scarborough doesn't think so. On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough suggested that those on the "far, far right" in the "conservative entertainment complex" and in the ranks of political consultants who oppose tax rate hikes do so out of base material motives.
According to Scarborough, speaking of such "far, far right" tax-increase opponents, "conservatism is a racket for a lot of people to get very, very rich."

Take 100% from everybody. 100% tax. It would not solve the debt problem. Why then do they think taking a smaller amount will work? They don't think logically that's why.
We need MORE taxpayers, not more taxes.
Unnecessary spending HAS to be cut HAS TO BE. . . . . .
Putting more people back to work, cutting spending, (Yes one Christmas tree is enough we don't need 54 trees in the WH, and many many more examples of ZERO spending our money like its water, $4M vacations etc. etc.)
Well, whats not to like then?
History is the best teacher. Joe Scarborough and all those other rich decadent liberals in Hollywood, NY, and in the media are reminiscent of all those upper middle class, wealthy and even aristocratic Russians who enthusiastically financed and supported the culture destroying Bolsheviks. By 1925 most of them were dust and footnotes.
Cool!!! I’m a conservative. When do I get really, really rich??
True!
And socialism is a racket for a lot of people to become very, very poor...and to be enslaved by the state.
What a jerk! The fact is that the ultra rich are not affected by this. It’s those people who have sacrificed for years and years, not making money for many of them, and who are now in a position to benefit from their efforts and ‘make up’ to some extent for the years of sacrifice and the years of much lower income, who will be affected the worst. I trained for 13 years, after college, to do what I do. Four of those years I was paying tuition and accumulating student loan debt, for the next 9 years I averaged ~$30,000/yr. salary. I made some additional income by moonlighting overnights and weekends, and used that to pay the student loan debt before it crushed me. I’ve never taken a dime from the federal or state government. I have taken a total of probably 5 weeks vacation in the past 7 years. So why exactly should I be punished? What is my fair share?
You are right. What bothers me about these comments is that even if true, it doesn’t invalidate the correctness of conservatism. Meanwhile, being a turn coat Republican, like Joe Scarborough, is an even bigger racket.
Conservatism is a racket to make a lot of people rich, that is why we were the richest nation on earth. Socialism is a racket to make a small minority rich, and that is why we no longer are a rich nation.
joe, you are depraved. You are supposed to be producing something, not being a drain on the resources without putting back in, you moron
More like Rush, Glen, Mark, Dennis, etc.....and now Jim DeMint....
And don’t forget. He was a 4 term GOP Congressman. How many of our GOP congressmen today secretly think the same way?
I oppose higher tax rates on the “rich” precisely BECAUSE of the adverse affect it will have on the poor.
The “rich” happen to have a function in the private sector, and that of course is to put excess capital at risk. Without having altruistic motives, the “rich” function as benefactors to the poor, because they are our employers and our investors.
Extracting money through taxes from the “rich” causes layoffs (harms the poor), and increased prices on everything, every product and every service, that these “rich” employers provide. This also harms the poor.
In short, the poor will pay disproportionately for the increased taxes on the “rich”.
This is the way we should be articulating our opposition to taxes on the “rich”.
Joe should write a book:
“How I Made The Jump From RINO To Liberal Water Boy”
I guess the converse is...:
Liberalism is the ability to fool stupid people in to believing that Democrats are there to help, while enslaving and dooming generations of stupid carbon units into thinking that working for a living is foolish, and blaming others for your parasitic lifestyle is the fault of someone else.
Silly liberal carbon units of the PC (Parasite Class) "being lazy, stupid and ignorant, is no way to go through life, nor is living off the labor of others.
Yeah. Like you. A$$hole.
First, they play the role of an aggrieved minority, bravely fighting against a big, bad, bullying monolith. This is the "wolf in sheep's clothing" stage, in which coordinated interests conspire to take over civil institutions, often over a prolonged period of time. During this phase, radicals pretend to support the institutions that they truly mean to destroy or to utterly re-make.
Then upon achieving power, they seek to marginalize, demonize, accuse and blame the opposition for all manner of societal problems. They begin to consolidate power by working to de-legitimize the ideas and beliefs of opponents, placing them beyond the pale of civil society, slowly introducing the idea that they are a problem, a threat, a danger.
Hmmm, I wonder what comes next.... (read your history).
‘Conservatism Is A Racket For A Lot Of People To Get Very, Very Rich’
Not like being a shill for some 3rd rate leftist propaganda mill.
I’m a conservative and I’m poor. Please, Joe, tell me the secret!
Just another media-slut slander moment...???
How much did they pay for you to sell your soul to the last-place non-news org??
I think we'll just call you "traitor" from the get-go...
Saves time...
