(CNN) -- The United States warned Syria again on Monday not to use chemical weapons amid intelligence reports indicating President Bashar al-Assad's regime could be preparing to take that step as it escalates its fight against rebel forces.
"I'm not going to telegraph in any specifics what we would do in the event of credible evidence that the Assad regime has resorted to using chemical weapons against their own people," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday. "But suffice it to say, we are certainly planning to take action if that eventuality were to occur."
U.S. officials are concerned that with fighting closing in on Damascus, forcing the temporary closure of the airport there, the regime may be feeling desperate and toying with the idea that chemical weapons could finally crush the persistent rebellion.

Assad is on the way out. No one means to keep him alive anyway. So he uses chemical weapons, What can we do about it anymore than we are doing against the man anyway, except to go in with the rebels to destroy him. Which is what is happening now.
No matter what we do Syria will soon be another country under the foot of Sharia law and Muslims killing anyone who isn’t one of them.Chemical weapons are horrible thing , but so is Genocide of Catholics and Jews. We can see that coming, maybe that is what Hillary and Obama want.
Or?
Or nothing.
Syria is a Muslim country. Our president would take NO action against them for using chemical weapons, even on US soil.
Uhhhhhhhhhhh, isn't that telegraphing your actions specific or not? Hillbilly is the biggest screwup ever. The truth is that Hillbilly basically just said "we're fulla crap and won't do anything."
Actually, I’m getting those old Tonkin Gulf flashbacks.
“You’d better NOT!.. or ELSE!”......”I’m gonna poop”!
Irelevant short timer pretending to do something important about events beyond her grasp
Oh NO! Not the strongly worded letter of condemation with collective anger!
These wouldn’t be the chemical weapons that we could not find in IRAQ are they?
Nah...tell me it tain’t so?

This could be very interesting. Who says Syria has chemical weapons?
Will Obama be able to “prove” it? How will he justify any military action otherwise?
Sound familiar?
Be fun to watch the chickens come home to roost, since the demonrats spent so much political capital demonizing President Bush that there “really weren’t any chemical weapons in Iraq”.
Remember their chant, “Bush lied people died”.
Can’t wait to see the demonrats “PROOF” and how the media will handle it.
It’ll be very interesting to watch.
By the way, if Syria has chemical weapons, the source could be the convoys that were photographed by satellite, that were heading from the Iraq military bases to Syria, when the US weapons inspectors were headed to the Iraqi base.
Be awfully entertaining if the so-called never exisited chemical weapons of Iraq are the ones that may now be deployed in Syria.
It should have been handled the same way Saddam was handled. This is a complete and utter disaster all caused because we have a dingbat Progressive leadership that does not know it rear end from its front end. Here is the latest news on the World War III front.
US, Israel, Turkey, Jordan primed to strike if Assad activates chemical weapons
Anchored opposite the Syrian shore is the USS Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with 2,500 Marines. Facing it is the Russian Black Sea Fleets naval task force which too has hundreds of marines on its decks.
US Official Believes Syria Has Begun Preparing Deadly Nerve Gas
Physically, theyve gotten to the point where they can load it up on a plane and drop it, the official told Wired.
Sarin gas is one of the most dangerous and toxic chemicals known to man as it is about 500 times more deadly than cyanide. The nerve agent is a colorless and odorless gas that can spread quickly through the air.
The Assad government has more than 500 metric tons of the precursors rubbing alcohol, and methylphosphonyl difluoride and usually stores them separately to prevent accidentally triggering the deadly reaction. But that seems to have changed.
Not to worry one little bit. After all we have Billy’s wife and Susan Rice at the helm. What could possibly go wrong.
In Istanbul, meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters at the end of his one-day visit: What we are concerned about is Syrias future. We dont want the same mistakes to be repeated in the near future. He went on to say: We shall remember how some regimes supported the militants in Libya and how the situation ended with the killing of the American ambassador in Libya.
We were expecting that many months ago, but now the situation is so hot, false flag or not, h#ll is coming to the middle east. Wont matter to the Russians and Chinese why we are attacking Syria. Check out Putin's quote above.
“These wouldnt be the chemical weapons that we could not find in IRAQ are they?”
When I first read this article earlier today, that’s exactly what I thought. The weapons of mass destruction that Bush detractors insisted didn’t exist. Sure they didn’t exist. I thought there were satellite pictures taken that showed vehicle movement from Iraq into Syria and it was theorized it was the WMDs from Saddam Hussein . . .
It’s official.
Benghazi has came and went and the only one held responsible was the Republican who called for hearings.
Now we are onto Iraq’s WMD’s in Syria. Sounds like it’s going to be a “Bush sent them there” after deposing Saddam.
Ok, but I have a question.
**WHO in the hell gave the damn order to NOT rescue our men in Benghazi?**
Unless and until that question gets truthfully answered, I don’t give a good damn what happens in ANY country....
