And so the government takeover of our health care system begins:
Walmart, the nations largest private employer, plans to begin denying health insurance to newly hired employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week..
...
By making the fine for not providing health care cheaper than providing health care, this was always the plan: to encourage employers to send us to the government.
Remember how Obama's big ObamaCare sell was, "You get to keep the health insurance you have"?
It was all a lie, a hustle, a con, a ruse

That's a key point. Private business will be blamed for the coming re-recession. Obama was only trying to help the little guy.
That premium is not “bizarrely high”—rather, it’s the typical deductible for an HSA-qualified account. These are the best thing since sliced bread, once tax consequences are figured in.
Of course, the F***stick in Chief and his band of merry thieves have killed off the HSA as part of Obamacare...
You were on your employer’s property ~ that’s the law.
Paying $800 a month for premiums? Wouldn’t the money be better spent by banking it and paying cash when a medical issue arises? Sometimes if one pays cash - they get a discount. Actually, they are having to pay the first $2,500 or $10,000 out of their own pocket anyway, so where is the benefit of health insurance in this?
My physicians group’s letter listed the Medicare Advantage insurers and specific policies they accept. The last sentence was cryptic but I believe it to mean they are not accepting Medicare patients. It could mean new medicare patients.
You are full of it.
Walmart is the best run corporation in the world and the very definition of Capitalism.
I suppose you are a union leftist that is unable to understand business and capitalism and need to whine about your personal inadequacy
The group is small, 49 employees, average age is over fifty years old, numerous employees have had cancer, heart problems, tec. so it’s high.
I’m no stranger to insuring myself. I’ve been looking around. It may be possible to get better benefits for the same payment with a lower deductible. It doesn’t appear possible to do better on the monthly outlay, not that I’ve seen.
I had far better coverage for less money when I was on my own, buying through NASE, National Association of the Self Employed. I have no idea what an equivalent policy would run now, five years later.
I plan to find out.
They do, it's in the form of lower wages.
So the states say, “Okay. (shrug) We’ll just cover the extra expenditure by tapping into the state’s medicaid and welfare budgets.” One way or the other, the Ubama and the Democrats’ parasite party base must be the ones who pay, not the productive, working, Republican taxpayers.
Well, the benefit is two-fold..
Unless you are destitute and qualify for Medicaid a lot of doctors, diagnostic facilites, hospitals (unless it’s an emergency) won’t even give you the time of day unless you have insurance. Even if you are waving a fistful of cash or credit card in their faces.
So let’s say you save the $800 premium and put it in the bank for...let’s say...10 years.
That money wouldn’t touch one “catastrophic” hospital stay and be severely depleted with a couple of “minor” hospital stays. My uninsured sil was in the er overnight..it was $13,000.
I am afraid we are between the rock and the hard place.

You can bet Roberts was BRIBED. Petraeus, Allen, etc..
On this thread, it was said several times Workers Comp doesn't benefit employees, but the employer so they can avoid law suits/litigation, etc...Now were told the employee is paying for something that benefits the employer.
Too funny...
Walmart quiet lately? Hmmmmm,....didn’t they just go through that whole union, stirke, black Friday fall-out thing?
Look to see a big push for unions in Walmart and other retailers.
That answer can be a yes or no -- depending on the type of business. But one thing is consistent, all 'small' employers do hate it, but they have to have it or one sizable injury claim and shut the doors.
In the Construction Industry WC Insurance is one, big, pain, in, the, ___. On a large project (Hi Rise Bldg) than can span years until 'close out', you have to 'guesstimate' future inflation costs and WC costs are a friggen crap shoot (and in crook county, IL so was #%$@ sales taxes).
In hindsight I don't know how I survived all those years. Oh wait .. I just remembered how I did ..... Absolut On The Rocks.
I think the issue is two parts. Part was the tax sham, that is, removing revenue from the taxable income stream. That of course is to the workers advantage if they are employees of a firm with group coverage. The not so subtle plan by the G is to get their hands on this revenue stream to tax. The second issue is group health coverage is generally much lower than a single payer policy. Obamacare works in favor of the insurance companies....now everyone will be on an individual plans as soon as firms drop their group coverages. Double whammy on the tax payers. Note, they are now required to put onto the W-2s the value of their employer furnished health insurance. Soon it will move right into the gross income column. Another example of the actual workers taking up the ole wazoo.
There was a time when part of your medical insurance which you paid was deductable, assuming you beat the standard deduction, the other half was subject to the 3% limitation at that time which is now 10%. Of course cigaratte, gasoline exciese taxes and sales taxes were deductable too.
And online shopping is continually eroding the need for box stores. Even the big grocery store chains are now offering online shopping and local delivery.
Fewer cashiers, more drivers. The drivers you can get from Mexico.
