Ohio families receiving food stamps could get an unwelcome surprise come January: $50 less every month in assistance.
For the 869,000 households enrolled in the program for the poorest Ohioans, that could amount to about $520 million annually out of the grocery budgets.

Its Al Gores fault
They voted for Obama and their allowance is being reduced!
There is no such thing as showing gratitude to Obama voters. Now that the election is over, they can be thrown under the bus!
Hell hath no fury like an Obama voter scorned.
They’ll complain but they fall in line.
My daughter is a social worker..she said a family of 6 gets over a thousand a month..and the kids get free breakfasts, lunches, and sometimes dinner.. from the gov...

ZOOKER to GraceG
... Has anyone considered that the line for freebies is closed? Obama's reelected now so he's not in the market for votes, dead or otherwise.
Won't surprise me (but it will surprise the takers) when checks don't come and free phones go dead.
“The piper has invoiced”
That is disgusting.
DIS gusting.
We scrimp and save and try to get it so we can eat steak maybe four times a month...
WE WORK for our food.
The 90% fraud in the system give the legitimate 10% a bad name, fersher.
0bama voters want the same things that you work hard for, but
the “working hard for it” part - not so much.
Someday your monthly allottment will be a bag of rice and you wil still be required to praise the Dear Leader!!
North Korean Style..
Obama voters are about to find out that the whip snaps both ways.
I happen to know Ohio has plenty of unused land... probably their politicians can help out there.
My daughter has a family of 6 ( her, her husband 3 teens and one primary student ) ....she make the kids lunches and she has less to spend on food than her clients ..They never eat steak ..and it makes her mad too
This is an excellent opportunity for faith based organizations, read “churches”, to set up co-op food and labor swaps for people in need. There is a good process for doing so, and it results in a lot of good for a lot of people.
It starts as an in-house process, to find out which current congregants are in need of food aid, which need some labor (usually the elderly or disabled), and who has surplus resources of anything, usually one type of food. Money is not part of the equation at this point.
With a healthy dollop of management, pretty soon food, cooked and uncooked, is shuffled around; the folks who need help around the house get their lives improved a lot; and those doing okay spend some time looking for surplus bargains, like bulk food sales, and maybe doing some cooking.
Often this results in far more abundance than is needed, so the next phase is to slowly start bringing outsiders in, based on both an invitation by congregants and the agreement to help them as well.
Is that number before or after the recent boom in the last (delayed past the election) report on food stamp enrollment?
Because of the way the federal government calculates utility expenses for people receiving the benefit, a mild winter nationwide last year, and a lower price for natural gas, many families could experience a significant cut in aid, those familiar with the program say.
Blame it on the SUV, Satan's global warming machine.
And Cuban Style, they’ll provide you with a free rice cooker!
” labor swaps”
Doing work to get Welfare. You are a scream.
Perhaps you’re right...then he will say it is the fault of the Republicans....
hmmm...
though he MAY want to keep the gravy train going a while for his zombies. At least until 2014.
Oh, who am I kidding? He doesn’t care who takes over then...just like he doesn’t care that the House is controlled by Republicans. He’ll ignore them just like he has ignored the Constitution for 4 years.
Private help to food banks, etc. is going to diminish, not increase. Those who DO pay taxes got a snootful of the ‘Obamaphone lady’ plus many other celebratory folks, happy that the ‘freebies’ will continue, or so they thought. Obama is not a compassionate guy - he said/did what he did to get re-elected and now that he has, he could care less about the ‘huddled masses’. What the ‘freebie voters’ didn’t count on was that taxpayers are SO disgusted, that many have decided not to give the freebie voters a chance to ‘double dip’ - if you are living on government assistance, then you will have to make due on government assistance and paid for by taxpayers who are not going to be making additional charitable contributions any longer.
