its been a traumatic four years! Amen to that.

"I could be mistaken." You are completely mistaken. Rush hoped Hillary! would do some damage to obama, because he knew the hapless McCain wouldn't lay a glove on him.

This wasn’t a case of “making it up.” I was wrong in my recollection. I checked “Ask.com” right after your last post. I knew for certain Rush wanted to weaken a candidate. I thought it had been Hillary.

Doesn't work that way. What will happen is A. conservatives getting a reputation as unreliable and kicked to the curb, B. GOP moving more left, and C. Dems getting everything they want like 2008-2010 - like Obamacare.
I don't care if third party candidates work, it's divorcing the GOP and sending them the way of the Whigs as they need to be. Conservativatism will survive and will flourish after we get rid of and then rebuild the GOP.
And how exactly will conservatism survive and flourish? How will GOP be rebuilt?

One possible way to disenfranchise the non tax payers is to pass vote reform legislation or an Executive Order requiring a national ID card to vote to eliminate vote fraud and stating that any citizen with zero federal tax obligation isn't going to get one.
I don't believe that would run afoul of any of the Constitutional Amendments passed so far, they don't speak to the issue.

i say let Obozo have everything he wants!
Then let the Obozo voters see what an Obozo world looks like.In 2016 we wont even have to run election ads.

I remember
Operation Chaos quite well. The point of it was to vote for whomever was the trailing candidate at any given point in time, so as to draw out the primary process and have Hillary and 0bama beat each other to a pulp.
Unfortunately, by the time it was in full swing, 0 already had sewn up most of the votes needed to win. I remember switching registration to vote for Hillary in the PA primary; but it didn't stop the 0bama express. In any event, we did not wind up with 0bama because of Operation Chaos. It was just a bit of fun.

i say let Obozo have everything he wants! I think the GOP should just walk out en masse when it comes up for a vote, NO BIPARTISAN COVER FOR BARRY.

I disagree with that approach. The best strategy is to have the "Conservative Party" come up with a conservative Republican to serve as the standard-bearer for the movement, and put him/her up as the ONE candidate against any "establishment conservative" the Republicans put up on their own.
The downfall of the GOP this year began when you had a dozen idiots running out there splitting the vote, while Romney would "win" primaries with little more than a third of the vote. Some of these candidates ended up dropping out and endorsing 2-3 different candidates as more of THEM dropped out. I think Rick Perry dropped out and endorsed Gingrich, then endorsed Santorum when Gingrich dropped out, then endorsed Romney when Romney was the only one left. Yeah, that's a real vote of confidence there. LOL.
All of these candidates brought positive qualities to the table, but someone has to sit most of them down and tell them to take a walk before the first primary is held. Truth be told, this GOP field resembled the kind of cantina scene cast of characters we've become accustomed to seeing among the Democrats. Herman Cain? Rick Santorum? Newt Gingrich? Rick Perry? Ron Paul? Tim Pawlenty? Michele Bachmann? Jon Huntsman? Does the Republican Party really need all these people cluttering the primary field? Most of these candidates didn't have a chance in Hades to win the nomination, let alone win a presidential election.

Was it really four years ago? It seems like a long past distant age.
Lets pray and work for better days.

Why, O why, O why, O why do FReepers, who never believe anything else printed in the New York Times suck up this preposterous agitprop as if it were gospel? Why?
Read the article. The stunning claims in this piece are not sourced at all. The very vague generalities in this piece about reconciliation that have a name (Peter King) attached to them are typical post election boilerplate, and the quotes that take any serious position come from conservatives which completely contradict the thesis of the headline. They say they are NOT going to support a cave-in, and feel they have a mandate of their own.
For what should have been the last time twenty years ago: ANYTHING printed in The New York Times is pure crap that is only ever accidentally true, if even then.
Jeez, stop with the hand-wringing.
