Why the low Republican turnout? (vanity)

Posted on 11/07/2012 8:40:52 AM PST by TigerClaws

This was within reach. Obama had ten million fewer votes than 2008. Despite huge rallies and intensity, Rs didn't show up.

Was it... 1. Insufficient ground game? Hundreds of millions on tv instead of laser beam ground game on our base?

2. Too moderate. Romney didn't motivate the conservatives.

3. The Mormon thing. Evangelicals stayed home.

4. The gender gap. Romney didn't close it.

Despite the MSM spin, this was a winnable election and we lost the chess match.

Thoughts?

Lots of votes still to be counted. West coast mail ballots, general absentees, provisionals, east coast storm. No sign at all that the ultimate total will be significantly below 2008. The count usually goes up several million even after wednesday noon.

"There is just no way that this country turned out in numbers 15 million less than in 08."

I believe turnout could have been lower, but the lower turnout should have come from Obama's base who were less enthused about the historic nature of the election, and perhaps otherwise disinterested voters who voted in 08 to be a part of history.

At the same time, I expected Republican turnout to be higher than 08, given higher enthusiasm for Romney than McCain.

RINO top of ticket with Conservative VP doesn’t work; it pisses off the Conservatives and the moderate never stands firm and appears flip-floppy and weak. But we already knew that...

A lot of us warned that a Rino would not motivate voters.

Although, you’d think the possibility of another 4 years of O would be plenty of motivation enough.

What disturbs me isn’t just that we lost, but that after 4 years of O it shouldn’t even have been close. I think I felt something similar when Clinton won reelection. I thought, the first time people didn’t realize what they were getting. The second time, they know full well what they are getting and choose it anyway.

I am suspicious of vote fraud too. The fact that the Dems are so determined to prevent voters from presenting their ID should speak volumes.

Regarding fall offs in voting, in 2010 the aggregate fall off was 45 million voters!

2016 had a Republican only fall off of 26 million.

So, yeah, people get fed up with these pukes and don't show up ~ in the TENS OF MILLIONS!

It appears Obama lost votes among white Democrats who refused to vote because of racism, non-white voters because of the economy, and all races affected by Hurricane Sandy. Romney won the white vote at the same level as Reagan, but more non-white voters either voted for Obama because of race and partisan ideology or refused to vote for Obama because of the economy and religion while refusing to vote for Romney on the basis of race and partisan discrimination.

Question: Which party fought for and enacted “early voting?” Democrats.
Question: Who is the first president to take advantage of early voting? Zero

Early Voting is a criminal enterprise. It is a strategic way for poll workers to meddle with and achieve whatever numbers they need to seal the deal for their precincts.

FRAUD ALERT.

With all the heavy turnout reports, and from the extraordinary turnout I saw in my own district yesterday, it’s hard to believe that *both* candidates got fewer votes than four years ago. Turnout in some districts must have been almost non-existent.

Seriously?” Everyone on the planet predicted this (except the usual fools a/k/a Dick Morris). We just do not have the number of Republicans we used to have. Demographics are changing. America is moving decidedly Left. Until we stop sitting around blaming “magic” for our failures then we’ll be sitting alone and right soon.

We have GOT to stop listening to the Karl Roves and Fox News fools. We have GOT to stop listening to every single conspiracy theory that waddles down the path. (Yeah, that means birtherism). We have GOT to share our Conservative values and stop this little echo chamber we have. Let the LibTards do that.

But, hey ... yeah, I’m a closet liberal “eye roll”, but alll I know is I said from the beginning that Romney would get beaten and we’d lose seats in the Senate. I thought we’d lose more in the House but that was a pleasant surprise.

But, by all means, keep blaming magic and birth certificates. Liberals will love you for it. BTW, that Nation you see out there? It’s turning blue.

I’m with you, sent in our absentee ballots 14 days before the election. In PA if you’re in town anyway you’re supposed to go to polls & void ballot and vote there. Also my wife mismarked her ballot so we went.

Though i saw a few names in the book marked voted absentee ours weren’t marked. The head judge took our names & went to look through the ballots. When we left about an hour later he still hadn’t found them. The post office has lost 2 things in the last 20 yrs. my Mitt Romney store items & my ballots for Mitt Romney. I’m in a heavily republican area, targeting ballots from this post office would be very productive.

I think we just witnessed the most massive & sophisticated voter fraud effort in US history. Can’t wait to see the turnout numbers from Philly.

It is my hope that in some select states where the Secretary of State is GOP and is allowed to analyze the turnout, compare the voting records, in some select counties/voting districts, and on a sample basis verify with voters the votes shown as being cast by them, focusing on the absentee/early voting records.

If I heard Karl Rove right last night, in Ohio the pre-election day early vote count put 0bama up by +10%! On election day, Romney got back 9% of that, but it wasn't enough?!

If so, this was already "baked in" before election day. Something is seriously wrong with that!

Absentee/early voting should be dramatically restricted and reformed.

when you vote for Romney/Ryan and the machine registers it as Obama/Biden, it does wonders to create the appearance that Romney’s support was soft.

...oh, and shredding early ballots, (which many states had over 30 days worth ), is probably a good way too.

We were treated to a sybian, chicago-machine style.

Totally agree...massive voter fraud.

Van loads of Somalis voting....

Dems. voting multiple times...

GOP poll watchers thrown out and unable to check that voting machines started at zero....

Absentee ballots....not reaching their destination..

Members of the military not receiving ballots in time..

This was a "third world" election.

“A nation’s life is about as long as its reverential memory.”
- Whittaker Chambers -

reverence:
1. a feeling or attitude of deep respect tinged with awe; veneration.
2. the outward manifestation of this feeling: to pay reverence.
3. a gesture indicative of deep respect; an obeisance, bow, or curtsy.

Before we start throwing to many rocks, was this an honest election?
We had better hope that it wasn't, otherwise this country is gone and there's nothing we can do about it.

Too many of our population don’t think communism is that bad. They are too young and didn’t live through the times when Russia was the USSR and threatened to bury us and started wars all over the globe...I remember having bomb drills in school like you have fire drills...(its funny now cause all we did was get under our desks.) In our schools we also had tornado drills. (elementary school)

It has nothing to do with Mormonism or RINOism.

The GOP had massive turnout yesterday, everyone reports this, much longer lines than 2008 for McCain. Therefor, it is impossible for Romney to get less votes than McCain.

So what happened? 3-4 million Republican Early Votes were discarded or destroyed in swing states.

Remember all last week, the story was that Ohio Republicans in 2012 had eliminated Obama’s early vote margins from 2008. Early votes, combined with massive turnout yesterday should equal a easy GOP win. But it didn't.

I'm telling your right now, millions of Republican early votes were discarded.

How else do you explain IN and NC, both states Obama barely won in 2008. The Obama camp knew IN was a lost cause in 2012, so they ignored it, no funny business, therefor Romney wins handily. Obama camp thought they had a chance in NC in 2012, so we get lots of funny business, GOP early votes eliminated, and Romney barely squeaks by. Same thing happened across other swing states.

Massive voter fraud!!

"Romney wasn’t inspirational, someone who doesn’t believe, only pays lip service ... is truly the wrong guy to have as your champion."

boojit !!!

When given the choice of join the Army or go to jail, guess what many guys in the '60's did ?

Y'take the best shot, you don't throw yourself on the mercy of fate.

Romney didn't need to inspire .. he had answers.
