This is a statement from Gallup Editor-in-Chief Frank Newport regarding Gallup polling and Gallup Daily tracking during Hurricane Sandy:
Gallup has suspended polling for its daily tracking as of Monday night and will reassess on a day-to-day basis. The ultimate effect on the overall picture of polling between now and this weekend, including election polling, will depend on what happens as a result of the storm, about which we will have a better understanding of on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
Look for future updates here.

If the polls are suspended, can the suspension of the election be far behind?
This is because the spread between Romney and Obama is getting too large and further weakens the latter. There has been an average of 4.6 advantage Romney for a week now.
That takes an act of Congress, if not a constitutional amendment.
Nothing can save him now.
Romney’s lead getting too big for them. This is akin to the NYSE shutting down when the market is in free fall.
GSWarrior is shutting down trying to post and read threads on Free Republic until after the inauguration. It is useless.
LOL this is getting ridiculous.
So far no word on what the Curiosity rover on Mars intends to do.
Before any further comments, I encourage freepers to say a quick prayer for the protection of those in the path of Sandy.
Although the conventional wisdom is that the hurricane may help 0bama, I would say, not so fast. First, if anyone (God forbid) is injured, 0bama’s claims of heroics will seem petty and empty.
Also, there is nothing that 0bama can do to restore power to those affected. The Atlantic and New England states have more benign weather than we do in the Midwest and Southwest. The ability of utilities to respond to damage to their transmission lines has proven to be slower than we have down here.
The typical 0bama supporter may struggle to understand why government can’t just wave a magic wand and repair all the damage.
Again, I am praying that no one is injured by this storm. If that happens it will be a miracle from God.
So we got talk of the jobs report possibly not releasing on Friday.
Now we got Gallup shutting down its daily polling (which has given the progs nightmares for 2 weeks)...
And next will be serious talk about postponing the election.
This is scary stuff. Romney better smarten up and get back to his campaign. He’s about to be rolled.
My cousin’s tree cutting company is heading east from Michigan tonight.
wouldnt a Hurricane shutdown effect those in rural areas more than those in the inner city?
Good news for Drac Obamula.
Someone tweeted today how someone in the press room asked Carney if elections might be suspended because of the hurricane and he just turned around and left the room..dont count out Dems trying to call this election off because of the hurricane..they know they are going to lose they want to postpone the inevitable
Romney doesn’t need to react to Freepers delusional conspiracy theories as legit strategy.
What’s delusional, smart guy?
Wall St Journal: Labor Department May Delay Jobs Numbers...
Gallup: Gallup Suspends Daily Polling
Washington Post: Obama spokesman asked about election delay
Unless you think WSJ, Gallup, and WaPo are right wing conspiracy theorists.
They’re doing this because almost nobody north of Norfolk or east of Harrisburg is going to be picking up their phones for the next few days. Occam’s razor.
The jobs numbers will be released as planned:
