Romney faces big risk if he returns to Libya scandal at final debate (juan williams)
Foxnews ^ | October 19, 2012 | Juan Williams

Will last Tuesday’s big debate moment become Monday night’s big debate topic? Tuesday’s moment came when the candidates focused on the recent attack that killed the US ambassador to Libya and three others. As the Wall Street Journal’s conservative editorial page wrote: It was Mitt Romney’s “weakest moment.” Now as the campaigns ready for the foreign policy debate, to be held Monday in Florida, the question is whether Romney returns to the question of Libya. Political insiders in both parties say no. They are predicting the argument will shift to the questions about the president’s handling of sanctions to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons and the administration’s testy relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Even US relationships with Russia and China could get more time. So if Romney chooses to go back to the topic of Libya he is taking a big risk. It again could prove to be a blind alley where he gets mugged a second time. Meanwhile both sides fear any factual slip or glaring lack of knowledge in this last debate before the election. That fear is large in the Romney camp as they prepare a candidate with no foreign policy experience.

I absolutely agree with that. All the recent “reset” articles are proof that Benghazi is Obamas losing disaster.

Seems hard for them to get around this:
If they knew it was a terror attack, (and said it was) then why run the ad over there about the video, make speeches about the video and, most especially, put a target on the back of that film maker, necessitating him being taken into custody (for his own protection maybe), and making more people upset about something they would not even know about?
I can’t think of any possible way to explain this in a remotely credible way. They put that video guy in danger and drew attention to something that put more lives in danger as well.

"If they bring up Romney’s lack of experience in foreign affairs, he should say that Obama had no experience in 2008."

2008? Obama's lack of experience is very apparent in 2012!! His failed foreign policy is in full view & he's lying & trying to cover it up in every way he can think of.

His entire presidency is one BIG DISASTER. Everything he touches turns to crap.

I didn’t watch the full debate but have seen a clip of the part where Romney tried to make a statement and was interrupted by Crowley (with disinformation to help out Obama).
Charles Krauthammer and Ben Stein have also been critical of Romney for how he handled Libya in the debate. Based on the debate as a whole, do they have a point?

At this point we can only ask “what lies ahead?”—what lies will Obama deploy on Monday?

Ben Stein is a MO-RON and Charles occasionally goes “Beltway”

Benghazi is foreign policy and Obamas weakest point and failure. Of course they want Romney to stay away from it!
Yep. Facts are pesky things.

How many non-incumbent Presidential candidates have had foreign policy experience? Obama did not. (Hell, he STILL doesn't!) Gore did not. Bush did not. Clinton did not. Mondale did not. Dukakis did not. Reagan did not. Carter did not. Far less than a third of all candidates did. Yet another idiotic and meaningless charge.

Romney has an excellent team, and I’m sure they’ve figured the best angle of approach. The moderbator will surely axe, Shirley, so Romney had better have a knockout answer!

Easy... Start with the “reset” button fiasco in March of 2009 with Hillary and Russia and say it went all down hill from there.

It’s not a lack of experience. He has, after all, a full bench of policy experts in his corner. The problem is that they are all liberal!
Obama wanted us to believe that since UBL was killed, there was no longer any islamic threat and we should leave them alone and everything would be wonderful. Qadaffi was killed and therefore Libya will be wonderful. A fully protected embassy would imply that he was wrong.

The $70,000 in ads hasn’t been brought up yet. Not sure why it hasn’t been mentioned. Good point.
