I look askance at Hillbuzz as they are usually “out there”, but I think there is some merit here. I think Obama believes he can still win, but knows that he may not. I don't think their preparing to lose, I think they are preparing in the event they lose. In the event they lose, they simply cannot have a large public display.

Think of Chicago becoming devil's night in Detroit if Obama loses and holds a public event. I think that's what Rahm know they must avoid.

It depends on whether the electors have voted or not. If not, the Romney electors would get to pick anyone that constitutionally qualifies- Ryan included. If they have, Ryan would become President pursuant to the 22nd Amendment.
