After each debate I like to watch MSNBC Morning Joe to see how they try to spin things. Imagine my surprise when I tuned in a few minutes ago and saw Tom Brokaw trashing Biden's debate performance. Mika and the gang (including Joe) tried to use the 'We all know Joe personally, and he is a really nice guy' routine, but Brokaw was not biting. He said Biden was so off putting in his behavior that the undecided voters would not be moved towards Obama after watching the debate.
Everyone on the show agreed that both men passed the 'one heartbeat away' test that showed they were ready to be POTUS if something happened. That was where Palin (rightly or wrongly) was crucified by the MSM.
My own cheesehead opinion was that nobody really won the debate, but that Biden was the big time loser because his antics are all any casual viewer will take away. In my book, Biden telegraphed the growing panic in the Obama campaign. If they were not worried, Biden would not have acted so boorishly. If they felt they were ahead, he would have exhuded confidence rather than anger.
“Biden telegraphed the growing panic in the Obama campaign”
Exactly. The Obama camp is clearly worried, and for them, at this stage of the game, it is all about tactics and optics. All anybody has been talking about the last week is Obama’s “passive” performance last week. So Biden was advised to be aggressive with Ryan, but to do so in a friendly, smiling way. He went overboard with this advice and ended up looking weird and condescending.
The undecideds, too stupid to figure it out.
I never have liked chevy chase, never found him to be all that funny. After I found out he was a lib I disliked him even more. For my $$ John Belushi and Bill Murray could always run circles around him.
i agree. Biden lost but Ryan didn't win because he never had the chance to complete a sentence. Ryan looked serious and sincere and Biden was a braying jackass. I've never seen anyone act more obnoxious in any setting in my life.
Of course Matthews would be happy. Biden acted like Matthews always acts...Like a crazed idiot!
I agree, but it was a good picture of Ted Knight with a big old crazy grin...like Uncle Joe.
It wasn’t just Biden who was interrupting last night. Martha Raddatz was horrible. As one guy on our local radio said today, in the incestuous beltway sphere between Dem politicians and the liberal media, Martha is someone who has slept with everyone.
It really showed last night. The fact Roger Ebert and Ezra Klein were tweeting about how great Raddatz was tells you all you need to know.
We got a great gift last week from Jim Lehrer. For the first time in maybe 25 years we didn’t have some crappy lefty moderator butting in to save the Dem’s ass. But last night it was back to business as usual.
If Romney wins on November 6, we will owe a debt of gratitude to JIm Lehrer for letting our guy actually get his message out. I hope that one time last week will be enough to get Romney across the finish line.
Ryan held up pretty good, considering that he was double teamed.
If Biden wasn’t interrupting him, Raddiz was, whenever Ryan was trying to make a point or was about to say something negative to The Administration.

Bengazi question was asked as the first question — by intent. Get it out, get it ‘vetted’ and get it over, while Ryan was still settling in, facing the sitting VP, and still a bit nervous. By the end of the debate, it was completely forgotten. Mission Accomplished.
After Biden “asshole” act last night would anyone want him to have control over nuclear weapons?
I don’t think Biden passed the one heartbeat away test. I’m frightened thinking that he could possibly be the President one day. He showed that he is not mentally stable enough to be in that position.
Look at Frank Luntz. You have to be selected by that deformed, mental midget.
Frank Luntz makes my skin crawl more than crazy joe does.
I know that Luntz kinda leans conservative but I cannot watch him and his merry band of tw_ts {insert the vowel of your choice}.
Agreed. Caddyshack was a great movie except for Chase. He was not the least bit funny.
Proverbs 29:8-10
King James Version (KJV)
8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
9 If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.
It was decided by a coin toss. Ryan won the toss and elected to go last.
Umm, the Iranians?
Even if half of them were telling the truth, the other half were afraid to openly say Ryan for fear of being attacked publicly.
There are folks out there who are just not interested in politics, but I wouldn’t expect to find them in a focus group for just that reason.
My thought is, the ones in the Luntz group, tend towards one party or the other but are stopped by something. For instance, lifelong Dems who sense the rush to Marxism that bothers them. Or the debate performances by Biden and Obama are turning them off.
That he was able to reach the US Senate and Vice Presidency is something that makes me think the movie Forrest Gump was on to something. With the exception, of course, that Mr. Gump was portrayed as having near saint like innocence and kindness and stumbled into success because of that innocence and certain amazing physical gifts. Biden is an arrogant bastard who can, when necessary, put on an average Joe act and who has a certain feral cleverness. But in a duel of wits and facts he's coming to the scrap unarmed.
Biden got 6 days of coaching on using Chicago style tactics.
Their gig (and the accompanying prestige and ego trip of being the critical undecided voters courted and quoted by both political parties) would be over if they took the enormous, unthinkable step of actually deciding.
