Members of Congress have pointed to the violence in Syria as an opportunity to launch a humanitarian effort, i.e. a military endeavor, to aid the anti-Assad forces. However, increasing evidence indicates that the rebels are indiscriminate terrorists who seek to overthrow the Syrian government at the expense of civilian lives. In fact, the most recent indications of the rebels' terrorist activity were the four suicide bombings in Aleppo last week that killed approximately 40 civilians and wounded many more, prompting the United Nations Security Council to condemn the perpetrators.
A Syrian government official has blamed the terrorist rebels for the coordinated effort. The Daily Mail explains that the square targeted by the suicide bombings is in a government-controlled district in western Aleppo. According to the Mail, Rebels have resorted to bomb attacks in areas still controlled by President Assad.
Jebhat al-Nusra, a group linked to al-Qaeda, has taken credit for the bombings.
Gert Rosenthal, the current UN Security Council president, read a council statement Friday that expressed "deep sympathy and sincere condolences to the families of the victims of these heinous acts and to the people of Syria."
The council also called on nations combating terrorism to comply with international law, "in particular international human rights, refugee and humanitarian law."
The bombings in Aleppo are just several of the many examples of violence against civilians conducted by the anti-Assad forces. For instance, the rebels were also responsible for the massacre of over 90 people in Houla earlier this year. Immediately following that event, the United States, France, Great Britain, and Germany blamed al-Assad for the killings and expelled Syrias ambassadors from their countries in protest. Later reports, however, pointed to evidence that the massacre was in fact carried out by anti-al-Assad rebel forces.
At the time, the United States unquestioningly

We should arm both sides so that they are more effective in killing each other.
“Theonly good mooslim is a dead moslim”.
“There are few or no good guys in the Arab world.”
I have to agree. I could not give 2 $hits about what happens to the Arab world, after seeing what these poor excuses for human beings did to the Twin Towers. Our people jumping from those buildings while those maniac sub-humans were dancing for joy.
Nah! Why stir up a hornet’s nest? Besides that, they’ll only start shooting Christians, and selling some of the arms to the “Palestinians” and to terrorists who attack us in our homeland.
Our Orthodox Christian Brothers and Sisters in Syria need peace and stability restored ASAP.
Besides that, not so long ago a colleague of mine, a fellow American, went all over Syria absolutely unhindered. Besides doing business, he saw all sorts of Christian sites, which are very numerous. For such conditions to happen again, we need a clear Assad victory.
And I wish Romney, whom I support, would NOT make a campaign issue of Syria. BOTH liberal interventionists AND neocons are addicted to “humanitarian war”, which always turns out poorly, especially for Christians. Better to find peaceful ways to encourage an Assad regime to evolve toward constitutional government, as happened elsewhere in the world.
A question itself is wrong to the core.
Why Assad is a bad guy? How could a good guy look like there? Are you going to seek gentlemen in a sewers or something?
Assad types are effective and quite friendly leaders in that part of the world. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Assad rattling sabre or flying green flag condemining great satan and “joose” declaring jihad, urging beheading of something.
As for Assad’s flaws if liberals really think humanism and liberalism work in Middle East they are even dumber than they look.
I have no idea what's he's thinking.
Everytime we give arms to nutbag jihads to kill somebody, somebody turns out to be American.
