Suspicion about the federal government's September jobs report has fallen on Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, who appeared on CNBC this morning and defended the numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), claiming--falsely--that upward revisions of 86,000 jobs were from the private sector. In fact, the new number is entirely accounted for by upwards revisions to state and federal government payrolls.
The BLS reported that while only 114,000 jobs were created in September--which would have translated into a rise in unemployment from 8.1% to 8.2%--the unemployment rate fell dramatically to 7.8%. That unusual drop is the fastest in nearly three decades, and was unexpected even in the rosiest predictions.
One reason for the rise was an upward revision of 86,000 to the July and August jobs numbers--all of which came from a 91,000 increase in the estimate of public sector jobs. Private sector job estimates were actually revised downward by 5,000.

Jack Welch: Obama Cooking the Books on Jobs

The U.S. economy added a net 114,000 jobs in September, while the unemployment rate fell to a surprisingly low 7.8 percent, a number former GE boss Jack Welch described as cooked up by the Obama administration.
The September jobs number brought the unemployment rate below 8 percent for the first time in about four years.
Total employment rose by 873,000 in September, following three months of little change, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“Unbelievable jobs numbers ... these Chicago guys will do anything ... can’t debate so change numbers,” Welch said on his Twitter page, referring to President Barack Obama’s performance in the first presidential debate earlier this week.
Other experts expressed similar surprise.

This will end up bitting Obama in the end.
FRpers, do not let the old msm and Obama play with you heads and let them get into your heads rent-free.
It accentuates his dishonesty. It gives Romney a great opportunity to question even the 8.1% number and to bring up real unemployment.
Obama and children screwed up on this. They really jumped the shark.
I share with your anger.
Romney should keep saying “at or above 8 percent” just to drive Zero nuts.
It is simply panic time for the Obama White House. They are desperate.
It was all the fault of that darn Video.
When Rick Santelli was questioned about it he just said that he had accurately predicted the rate drop last month but he wasn’t going to speculate as to the reason. His expression sad more than that.
Some awesome quotes by economists on the BS of this report from a CNN article poster:
The Labor Department, based on a broad survey of employers, said 114,000 jobs were added in September.
But the unemployment rate itself is based on a separate “household survey,” which showed a whopping 873,000 new jobs in September.
“This must be an anomaly,” former Congressional Budget Office director Doug Holtz-Eakin said in a snap analysis of the numbers. “It is out of line with any of the other data..”
Holtz-Eakin noted the household survey is smaller, suggesting it is not as reliable. He called estimate of 873,000 new jobs “implausible.”
Liberal economist Dean Baker, with the Center for Economic and Policy Research, called the September rate drop “almost certainly a statistical fluke.”
Surprisingly in the comments section of both Chicago leftists news rags the majority of responses are total disbelief in the Obama regime unemployment propaganda numbers.

Jobgate - hide the decline...
Agreed! Right there is the ticket. Let's see who challenges the above statement, then call them out to support the lower numbers.
A great opener by Romney in the 2nd debate. .
So the business survey says +114k jobs, the HH survey says +873k. Who you gonna believe, the BLS or the BLS?

BLS = BS with a LIAR in the middle......
